Transmutation (Mastery)

  Rank 1 Transmutation can turn a rank 4 fireball castor into a rank 1 fireball crystal through entrusting. However you should get high mana crystallization so you can dish out more damage when using them.

  That nasty r2 Alc Mastery req of Mana Crystallization is troublesome, to be sure. The way I see it, Transmutation serves the same role as the other secondary masteries--supplementary to the primary ones. While it does have a significant impact on improvements, it does not compare with the effects of the skills it is enhancing. A medium-level rank of Mana Crystallization coupled with a decent rank of Transmutation seems like the better short-term fix to your Alc Mastery issue. In fact, getting quite a few of the skills in question to medium ranks should have just as profound an effect on crystal quality as sinking points into one category.
  
  I'm guessing you want r1 now and right now, but if it's more as something you want and not your immediate goal, it could be a good idea to wait patiently for G14S2 (yes, G14, not 13). G14S2 is simplifying a lot of training requirements for previously frustrating skills, and one of the biggest changes is in Alchemy Mastery, which will be getting "attack/defeat such and such enemy" requirements as early as rF, as well as--and this is the relevant part--making r2 to r1 100% non-reliant on the "make rank 2, 3 or 4 crystals" requirement (you can get the 100 points necessary from the other categories). If you can wait that long, it might be a good idea to simply hold off until then. If not, I'd say get Mana Crystallization to r9+, and then try to supplement it with Transmutation ranks.

  Thanks truefire, didn't know that AM got simplified at r2 as well. Thought it was only the beginning ranks. If that's true then I'll hold it off as well as ranking Ice Spear since I was planning on doing it self sufficiently instead of requesting
  
  I was looking for something like: r9 Mana Crys r1 Transmute does the same as rX Mana Crys rF Transmute. Something that would bring those two together as a breaking point or something where it breaks even. Would be interesting to know either way but if it's not needed then oh well.
