I don't consider mabi to have classes, you can rank a bunch of range skills but as soon as you have a skill that doesn't use a bow what are you?
That's why I like mabi. No class or jobs bull****.
Destiny is just some extra info like race or total level, makes no difference but it's a standard piece of information that's there if people want to see it.

I agree with you about the freedom of choice of playstyles that Mabinogi has to offer. For most situations, any type of playstyle doesn't matter. No one will give a damn to how you play or what skills you rank.
However, of late, I realised that when it comes to elite shadow mission, we really have a very difficult time recruiting people because of various playstyles. It's not a big deal though. Just that I find myself often needing to ask people if they are warrior/mage/alchemist when I have an elite shadow mission pass, because certain skills screw up others. (e.g. Ice spear and flame burst glitch, or windmill messing up fireball attacks)
Party-coordinated play in Mabinogi is quite a headache IMO.

This is pretty much how I feel about it lol I ask for "skill focuses" when I party for something serious. Another thing I can't stand is golem (or inexperienced knight) WM messing up crash-shot, thunder, or fireball...

problem is that people may have multiple characters making it hard to choose which "class" to take for the forum.
Also, if we base it off the destiny system.. it could make things weird.
For example, my pure magic using character is set into Alchemist destiny for the purpose of having A LOT more mana and also stam for music playing.

The form is for one character only so you would put the destiny of the character whose name you typed in.
The destiny also can't really be seen as a "class" the person is playing as, since it can change every week. It's just extra info like total level/race/guild and everything else that's there. If people really want to put in details like that, they can type it in their signature, there's too many possibilities to have it in a small box.

There are ways to use the form for multiple characters <.<

There should also be prefixes, such as (Fail) or (Pro)
I am a Fail Alchemist.

Total level changes every week but it's up there. As Osayidan says, the form is meant for one character. Just put the class you are the most, or change it every week. Same with total level, put the level you are roughly or change it all the time. So your mage character that is an alchemist would either be mage, which is what it normally is... or if you have the time to bother, put alchemist and change it later. My character is a mage this week, I put ranger because that's what she is at heart.

Exactly. lol

But that's not the Intention. You can screw in a screw with a dime, that's not what it's for though :)

I think Total Level helps determine that ;) Then again maybe not~ Could actually know how to play the class better than higher level people

Well, I kinda got 11 characters.. choosing one destiny to represent them all is rather difficult.
Also, if in the case of my Pure magic using character, you are pretty much saying I should just say it's a mage destiny but that's horribly wrong.. She can't be simply grouped with other "mages". I don't know if you noticed but when you mention in the forum that someone is a mage.. the first thing people will think is "someone who use mana potions". It's almostl ike the very meaning of "Mage" = "Mana potion user"
That kind of category just can't suit my pure magic user character for she's Self-Mana Suffisant and so doesn't need to rely on mana potions to fight. But if I start calling her a "mage" peopel will automaticly think "mana potion" Which is horribly annoying.

Sounds like a good idea to include Destiny/Total Level information under profile. It is just as useful as the server information. Not sure why would anyone oppose/complain about this.

Typoes! err if it all bothers you so much you should probably just leave it blank... with 11 characters you can't really fill out "total level" to represent them all... same goes for name :P
However if you were to pick your main character, which is what the profile is for I'm pretty sure... (Main being what you define it) Mage can mean many things. To assume that we assume it means mana potion user is a bad assumption lol I know many mages who focus on magic+tanking, mana reduction, and yes potion-consuming tactics... Yes there are hybrids. But generally people have a focus... this idea is more for the majority than the minority. That's how it usually rolls~
Anyway it's just an optional thing. :) Just leave it blank?

Oh really.., to me it seem like a very well accepted fact by the majority of the people that a "mage" is someone who will use mana potions. Every single time I talked about "mage" people always mentionned how they need mana potions. There has not been a single exception to this in neither nexon forum or Mabination. Heck, if you take a look at some of the resent post, someone started a thread about hatting been a mage and the only thing he complains about: Mana potions.
