Since G13 S2 is coming out tomorrow... do anyone know how good Arbalest is, and why?

The Arbalest exists because Crossbow Mastery would be ridiculous without it. It trades the damage of the crossbow for improved critical. The artisan upgrade is badass.
It would have been nice for DevCat to implement a two-hit crossbow or a fast/slow crossbow.

To the bolded part, what do you means it trades damage for critical? And how is artisian good for Arbalest?

So what is this Arbalest? Is it like a big crossbow or a handheld thing?

Bankai: Arbalest is a new crossbow type of bow that get implemented in G13 S2, as one of rafting rewards.

The
Arbalest, like all weapons forged by Goibne, has very few upgrade paths. These upgrades typically net the Arbalest more critical (58%) and slightly less damage than the Crossbow. Fortunately, none of these upgrades hurt its maximum range (1500).
This is the Arbalest,

I heard its the only bow with natural splash range. However, correct me if I'm wrong.

From JP wiki I saw that it's 53% critical before artisan (21 DEX, 85 LUK)... which should amount to 70% critical (if max artisan) before enchants and xbow mastery.
Lizard Revolver Arbalest with maxed artisan and xbow mastery+title should add up to... 116% crit? unless I screwed up the math somewhere, lol.
Either way, it should make Alby Adv HM cake.

All bows have a given melee splash, I think that old information was merely referring to that.

I thought bows only splashed during magnum shot. xD

Yea, that's the case... still, all bows have hit count/speed/splash just like other weapons, even if some don't apply.

It's good if you need to run dungeons with insanely high protection and you can't reach critical cap with other bows... other than that, it has the same drawbacks and advantages of crossbows in general.

So, would the extra critical for make up for the lack of damage compared to Highlander bow?

It would situationally, mainly in places where you cannot critical (or spam Crash Shot/Elven Magic Missile) with a Highlander Bow.
G14 will also allow the Arbalest to receive special upgrades... +62% critical damage with its critical potential will make critical magnum spamming Ghosts in Peaca very delightful.
