In terms of damage, that is.
Sword?
Blunt?
Axe?
I just looked into the Francisca axe or whatever it's called and it just made me wonder what were the current best single-wield weapon for Humans (non-two-handed, of course).

The best non-ego weapon to pair with a shield is Francisca.
Other than that, Bastard/Muramasa ego but you can dual-wield those.

Blunt Mastery gives +30 max, +40 with the title on. I still say Francisca is the best, also looking at the crit it has. No matter what, crit is always important. If I calculated it all right, the damage difference between a Shadow Hunter Caliburn and a Frenzy Spike Francisca with S6 upgrades is only 5 or more. I still say Francisca wins out.

Warhammer is much easier to find than a Francisca though. Does Francisca kind of force you to rank Axe Mastery as well? I see melee people upgrading Blunt Mastery for the +strength while using swords. Axe Mastery doesn't really give much of anything if you don't use an axe.
However, when using axe with axe mastery, it does gain up to 17% extra critical rate.
