Very fail D: Even windows is able to detect executable based on a hash and deny/allow. Ideally you would have an "allow only these things" list so anyone crafty enough to modify the executable won't bypass it.

I guess it's better for people in schools this way anyways, all their rules make no sense. If I want to browse a video game website in a school nothing will stop be short of cutting the cable.
