So McAfee is expiring in about two weeks and I don't really wanna pay for another year. What do you guys recommend for defense? One catch though, I refuse to use CA AntiVirus.

Microsoft Security Essentials is free and contains everything you'll need. It's also not as intrusive as that McAfee crap you have and doesn't use as many system resources when scanning.

Spydoctor - easy, fast, good notifications.
Ad-aware - Tad better than Spydoctor
Avast (free one) - Good for general background protection, but takes quite a bit of ram to scan (I rarely use the scan).
I also have Malwarebytes, but rarely use it because it only usually finds things when your computer is in critical condition.

Avast is awesome with it's auto-updates and notifications. Though, if you want something stronger, or want to actually go and buy a full AV program (or go ahead and get a cracked version online) I'd recommend BitDefender.
