So far, for the past 5 updates or so (basically anything that requires patching), I have been getting the "error occurs while copying file" error every time my patch almost finishes. I will admit I used to have mods and got this error before, but I had cleaned out mods and reinstalled my client around 2 months ago and have never had mods since. I'm not sure what's going on now, but every single time there's a patch, I get this error and I need to redownload/reinstall my client in order for it to work. Sometimes I need to redownload twice...
Does anyone know what's going on?
Edit: I know there's another post similar to this, but I AM able to get the game working...it's just that I don't want to redownload and reinstall after every single patch, lol.

Seconding this, however, I've been having this problem since like G9 or so, kinda why I mostly prefer manual patching over auto. [s]My main missed the first round of quizzes due to this. :pika_angry:[/s] So far, the only way I got through this problem was to keep shoving it down its throat until it gives, but it's very frustrating. If mods are the reason why, then let me say I tried to see if I could get to play around with Mabi mods once, didn't work so I gave up and deleted them. I do have a program that lets me see the package files though, but I downloaded that way after this problem started occurring.

Well, I tried manual patching too and it doesn't work at all. I really wonder why this is happening. :x

When you uninstall, try reinstalling it to a different destination file instead of the default one that it gives you.

I redownloaded the client again and tried installing it in another folder, but it didn't work again...even though I redownloaded too, so I'm just gonna download again and try again. >_<

this also happends to me aswell for the last 3 patches and usually takes 3 days of just patching over and over again until it suddenly works its so frustrating, reinstalling the client doesnt do anything :(

Yeah...now I can't get the game to work. Before I could, but this time, nothing is working. I even copied my friend's already-patched files, but then it just tells me server cannot be reached. Sigh...

If I remember correctly, Nexon's installers use a common temporary folder somewhere either in the Windows temp folder, or your user account's directory. Does Mabi use InstallShield or some other common installer solution? If so, it could use the common temp folder used by that installer software. I don't have Mabi installed atm so I can't investigate it. ): But perhaps someone else can. If you delete the temp files created by the old installations, it's very possible that it will resolve this error.
And just FYI: You don't need to redownload that massive installer several times. Once you have the installer saved, you can attempt to install from it over and over again until it works. Redownloading the same installer isn't going to help, it's just a waste of time. (Unless your downloads are unreliable and get corrupted sometimes?

Well, I tried the manual patcher and it didn't work...tried downloading and reinstalling using the file without npc music and it didn't work...so I guess I'll just try what you said Yoorah, and hope that installing it a billion times will make it work somehow. >_< Grrr Mabi!

I wonder.. check if you have the following folder: C:\Program Files\InstallShield Installation Information (it's a hidden folder, so you need to enable viewing those). Rename that folder (so that if the Installer looks for it, it can't find it) and try to install/patch Mabi. I suggest you rename the folder back after, though, since renaming/deleting it may screw up the uninstallers for some programs.
If that doesn't work, then try renaming C:\Program Files\Common Files\InstallShield and see if that will get the Mabi installer running properly.

Actually, I decided to reinstall it into a different folder and then restarted my computer and it worked! I doubt this is a permanent solution, but I'd rather not mess with the files anymore in case it won't work again. Maybe someone else can try it. Thanks for trying to help! =D
