I have a ridiculously powerful desktop (can run almost any game), but the thing is, i'm away from home for 8-months (thats when i'm in university) ...so i'm deciding on buying a laptop for some decent gaming during that time...
Currently I'm using my dad's HP Elitebook 8730w (when im not using my desktop). Its great, but too bad he won't let me bring it university, and my stupid Compaq is only good for taking lecture notes...
SO
I've come down to TWO laptops:
Dell XPS L501X or ASUS U53JC-C1
I think the XPS overheats, but im not sure if that problem has been fixed or not....and I just got recommended for the ASUS by someone, so not sure either...
Any other recommendations, or which of the two that i've written down you would suggest that i get would be very helpful. Thanks!
p.s. be concrete with your statements, don't just say, get XPS because the speakers are OFF THE HOOK! :punch:

Good site, but I think I forgot to mention that my budget is <$1000
That being said, is the brand lenovo any good? I haven't really heard of it....
Oh and Cucurbita, are the prices in newegg $US? ...I'm from Canada...

There is a Canadian version but the daily deals aren't as good...
I'd still shop here imo. Its still cheaper than most places.

I'd buy the first laptop in your second post, since it's solid enough to run most if not all games, and leaves you with some extra money :D

First one looks fine imo. It should do everything you need very well.
Unless you're looking to run Crysis on max settings or something. But then you should just get a desktop instead.
