Lag on steam

  Does anyone on the forum know how to fix this?
  
  I have terrible lag on steam no matter what game I play I lag really bad.
  My ping is usually 200-300 and it's starting to get on my nerves.
  
  On my old computer I played with no lag at all and I have the same internet connection I have for years but I've stopped using steam years ago.
  
  So I started using Steam again
  
  It's really annoying how I can't play one game.
  I've even tried a faster internet connection and still I keep lagging.
