Has anyone beaten the offering mission even at level basic? I don't understand why I cannot beat it. I got the circle a little smaller but it always ends with failed mission at about 14-18 min mark. Even if there are no corpses on the field at all. Can someone explain how you beat this mission as well as strategies for doing so. Thanks.

Are the monsters you're killing landing inside the circle when they die, or are you using the finish rules and knock them in after?

The core of the mission is Teamwork and Barrier Spikes. In hard, with a party of four, you can finish the quest in about 8 minutes being probably the best mission in terms of experience. Start by having a few people set up Barrier Spikes in a cross pattern in the middle of the circle. As mobs pop out, Windmill them into the cross and let an elf wall hump them or a Golem Smash them (Golem Smash doesn't Splash, even Snow Golems). However, never let anyone Windmill close to the Spikes but let them Windmill monsters into the circle. The cross formation prevents monsters from being launched out of the pocket. As a bonus, set up a row of Spikes on the circle side of the ovens. It adds great defense for the Golem user and the Elf as well as creates mob control. You'll auto fail if there are more than three spawns of monsters on the map at once.
For a full team mission and to utilize time, I recommend three Rank 5 Barrier Spikers (or two Rank 1 Barrier Spikers), a Rank 5 Golem Summoner or greater, a Ranged Elf, and all members should have Windmill. Remember to replace Spikes. When someone says to stop Windmilling, STOP. Lastly, keep everyone alive, soloing this mission in Hard is quite a bother.
I was actually planning to make a tutorial video for Offering. It's over looked quite a bit, but it's an easy 120k exp in 7 or 8 minutes if you work well.

They have to be in the circle immediately when dead for it to count. Even if you can still finish them inside, it won't count.

Oh yeah, as a bonus, a killing blow to an outside enemy into the circle, you must scream "GOAAAAAAAALLLLL!!!!"

Yup. An enemy losing all of its hp (not counting deadly) counts as a "kill". You need to "kill" them in the circle. Finish them where ever you want.

so technically me fireballing and 1 hitting all the mobs in adv "inside the circle" shoud count but it doesnt seem to....

I think you fail the mission if there are a total of 80 enemy bodies (living or dead) on the field at once. Maybe the corpses don't disappear fast enough when you try to finish them all at once. Try it without the finish rule set to anybody, and see what happens.

I think the body has to fly into the circle. It explains why the circle shrinks sometimes in successful goals.

yay! finished hard version with good team (levl 2.9k, 2.6k, 1.8k, 1.6k). We used the barrier spikes. Worked pretty well. With practice maybe get better.
Giant full swing helped too when barriers all fell and we got mobbed.
Fireball wont work because it tosses them all out of the circle. Putting finish to anyone did not work so i did not get credit for many of the kills. New technique is good though.
Bonus tip: On offering adv if you have r1 fireball you can stand just outside of aggro range and wait for 1-2 spawns and toss fireball in middle for great exp. I got 200k exp in 13 mins doing that. not a bad little grinding spot.

For ease, you need capped rank flamer with at least rank 5 barrier, surround the circle and flame away. :D
Of course this is a bit silly to suggest cause there are none to few strong alchemists out there to group up with.

Corpses that disappear still count, in my experience.
I've failed a mission with 20 minutes left that had absolutely no mobs - living or dead - on the field.
I already mentioned the thing about kills/finishes in my guide :(
I'll add Kyou's tactic to it later on since it seems pretty good.

You also may fail the Offering shadow mission as well, if you have too many monsters on the field.
Including the alive ones, and corpse ones.
