I just live with it. Because it's everywhere, just probably only in different forms.
There's drama even over here.
And some interesting situations that I've discovered over here.
Eventually a lot of people quit or switch owners. Those who still play take regular breaks.
Many female characters are actually males, either because of personal choice or the account is originally a female's but was given to someone else after she has married.
A couple of old people on our server too. A number who play are in their 40s, 50s, 60s, and in rare cases 80s. There are a significant number of fathers and grandparents playing this.
So when I ask a Rank 1 enchanter how he ranked enchant, he just said it came pre-installed with the account that he bought. lol.
I just live with all of these.

I do too I just like to document and pick things apart, haha.
That's crazy though, makes sense but still pretty wild. It'd be interesting playing over seas after playing here to see the differences like those. I used to play WoW with a lady in her 70-80s along with her 30-40 year old daughter and her 17 year old daughter. Fun times. :)

I enjoyed reading your case study.
I've found though that the majority of the people who post in the Alexina part of Mabinogi are Really, Really, annoying. Seriously. Check it out sometime..

There are quite a few community relations in this game which keep others hooked. But I have to say they are few and far between. In actuality, Mabinogi is one of the biggest loner games I have played. The community from my viewpoint are many of the same individuals what with similar skill sets(at my level anyway) who are on more or less. Though I do like how the economy works here and is one of the major likes of this game(housing, personal shops, party/trade chat, ect..) there are few actual character ties with the game.
To best describe this I will associate this with a former Nexon game I played years ago(No, not MS) DarkAges. The game truly had the community ties to keep it running for over a decade. One major factor was it granted powers to the players with checks and balances in each field. These fields were classified in 4 category's. Faith, Politics, Arena(and other pvp), and College.
Each catigory had degrees in which you could advance in and control more of. Priests could advance far in faith , hold masses, give out quests, and ban others from the shrine that caused havic. Politics had 2 sides, those that make laws, and those that enforced them. There, no GMs were needed for common cases. The palyers would ban players and be held accountable for their choices. Arena had arena holders, which were players which had others keep up with the rules or be banned. They also would hold events(much like Mabis CTF event) which were active as they had rewards. LAstly with College, you could become a teacher and hold classes, rewarding both those that participated with "education marks" (used to submit a entry to be graded so you could become a teacher or renown). Many factors gave others the ability to be mentors in some field or teachers in some way, a enforcer or debater.
The problem is Mabi has none of this. The closest thing to community is guild battles(a joke) and guild castles with their housing. All events are nexon force fed which the pros already know about due to us getting the leftover patches other versions had.
A guild leader controls the tax rate, and auction time/ect I pay for a house, otherwise no one in this game truely effects me what so ever unless I want to buy something. When you break things down, we have a good economy and nothing else. Players hold little to no power, what with the eception of 3 people in each servers(castle owners) for 2 months at a time.
PVE to PVP in mabi went from a complex rock paper scissors, to who can throw the rock first and the most. And if we want to cheat, steal, or yell profane words to one another at the top of our lungs, no one can say whats right or wrong, let alone enforce it. This is why we have a hard time holding our own events, with what little nexon gives us to do it.
Now why would I be playing such a game for the past 2 years and not go back to my old game which I was heavily dedicated for in the past for over 8 years? It's because the community shifts. Of coarse after 8 years DarkAges community had a decline, but the type of community changed aswell in the last decade. More and more children are getting their own computers and laptops, just like how younger children today have cellphones. Generally I will just say a younger average crowd gives a less serious tone toward a game. Though at the same time, they give something to the game as well, a more pure like essence to the actual game. Lets face it, the successful and knowledgeable scammers and cheaters are the older ones. Though its not unherd of, I'm not worried about a bunch of teenagers trying to scam or cheat me out of something, because I have both a decade of gaming experience, and decades of actual experience above them. Mabi is just that, a more naive and ignorant community. Though not to bad mouth such things as in my past game I was a mentor in several aspects, I planned to do the same here.
What I loved was everything this game offered at the beginning, but since then nothing has really changed. Housing was a great addition, in tightened the community of the economy related to the game, but little was offered after. What I am getting as is Mabi could use more types of power to players to give more experienced players a reason to continue, while giving many others something more to work toward then their skills.
Right now, we all work for gold, and work for skills. a dozen or so people work for castles for one type of power, and nothing else is given. The community is great, but as dedicated as I am to it, I could leave today and effect little. Allowing me to take a vacation whenever I pleased.
The community system that was placed in mabi is nonexistent. We build our community ourselves, which seems to be fairly well. I hate to say it but the community in DA was by far more complex and tightened, even at a small fraction of the population.
