G8 Taming

  Well, I'm getting started on G8 finally, and I'm wondering about the taming part. I have R6 CoD and R1 Prod, but I only have RF Tame. I can try to get the highest +chance rods and baits, but I don't know what they are/how to get them. I guess I need to know what rank Taming I would need and the best taming items/where to get them.
  
  Edit: I think I should mention I have ~1300 CP at low level/age.

  I had rank F taming with 1100CP or so.
  I ranked it to E on otters, and then got it from E-C on the horned aardvarks. Though it took a while, it WAS doable.
  You can rank it with a regular rod and bait, on those mobs.
  And then, for the volcano boar, I used a tikka rod and regular bait and got it after 90 tries or so.
  
  If the horned aardvarks aren't strong, well, try putting on one or two -100CP items.

  i trained similar on gray tailed mongeese using 2 -100cp equips?? i think. you have a much higher cp by about 300-400 or something.

  I unknowingly ranked taming when my CP was still 600. So glad I got that finished. Deranked now, though, before the advanced play kill. <3
  
  But also, I did that before the patch, which meant I had to get r8 taming. Took me a lot of baits, but it wasn't too bad.

  Your actual CP doesn't affect success rate of the tame, just the difficulty of ranking the skill
  
  The general consensus is that you need rank C + Tikka Staff and regular bait to tame a Volcano Boar, though I think CoD affects sucess rate, unfortunately I'm not a DK so I can't comfirm.
  
  Tikka Staffs you can either
  Buy - around 15kish?
  Exploration - The large artifact boxes (2x2) you get from Pantay Swamp sometimes contain Tikka staffs, I've received a couple from them myself
  Rafting - I cant remember which amount of stars but it does come from rafting and maybe (?) from hot air ballooning too
  
  Personally I wouldn't bother with bait, it isnt worth the effort
  Collection Books - bought from Voight, you need to fill it up with different artifacts
  Synthesis - I havent tried personally but I think the formula is something like Regular Bait + Large Meat + Golden Mushroom(?)
  
  The boar takes 1 bait with r6 :lol:

  Invest in some -cp gear. I can't say this enough. And dont sell them off after. They are my most valuable items. I can rank any skill at anytime on anything. Ranking skills no longer becomes and issue. I have about 1700 cp normally.
  
  For the most flexibility get a Racoon Cub, Abysmal, Arch Lich, Damaging Gloves, and Inconvienient boots for your collection. (and if you really crazy get a jackal, arch lich on sword, bow, and combat wand)
  
  I normally just rank skills in Ant Hell (insta respawn) or on brown mongeese near quila.

  I had rank 9 with the pre-nerf and I used the best cane and also the best bait. 4 baits! 8D

  If you do any cooking, you can get the best bait by feeding monkeys. You shouldn't have too much trouble with your r6 CoD. :s I did it before they adjusted animal taming and I got r6 for the heck of it. You never know if you'll meet up with a Giant Alligator after all! 8D
