Korean Movie
Release Date: 23 December 2009
Production Budget: $12 Million
Language: Korean
Plot:
The story begins in the Chosun Dynasty in 1509. Three immortal Taoists accidentally release 3 powerful youkai that hide by disguising as humans. They seek the prophetic flute, and to prevent it from falling into their hands, the Taoists seek out Exorcists to reseal the youkais.
Jeon Woochi is a young exorcist in training, a man with very little power without the use of his premade talisman. Along with his transforming dog (with incredible strength, taking form of a human) they run around screwing around and doing nothing useful. Eventually, Jeon Woochi is used as a scapegoat by a youkai in disguise and framed for a crime he did not commit. His punishment: 500 years sealed in a painting. The catch: Right before Jeon Woochi is sealed, he sntaches the flute thus making it impossible to retrieve it.
It is year 2009, and the three taoists are without any exorcists to help seal away the youkais, they become desperate and decide to unseal Jeon Woochi. Problem? He doesn't have his talisman, making him somewhat worthless. Confused by his sudden release into the modern city of Korea, he shows more interest in exploring and playing around than fighting, while the youkai begin to wreak havoc all over.
The film is full of special effects, action, plot, and is mostly based on the development of Jeon Woochi as a master exorcist. About half the movie takes place in the past, the other half taking place in the present, making the setting very interesting.
Here are two clips from the movie, if you want to have a quick look and see if you want to watch it or not.
