Avast blocking everything QQ

  i just got avast few days ago cuz everyones recommending it.

  Using nod32 ESET atm though. Never used Avast myself but it always seemed weird.

  Only time Wiki's been blocked for me is when it was site-related, not Avast-related.

  Well, since you took AV-Comparatives' chart, why not look at their actual tests and draw up some conclusions?
  
  *Sure, going by read speed, Avast appears to be vastly superior to MSE in scan time. However, MSE has less impact on your PC's performance than Avast. MSE lets you adjust how much CPU % the scanner is allowed to use, default being 50%. That chart also doesn't represent a real-world use case, since both AVs skip files that were scanned already. Avast has an advantage on the first scan only.
  
  *MSE's heuristics-based malware detection rate is higher than Avast's, while maintaining a much lower false positive rate.
  
  *MSE's signature-based malware detection rate is lower than Avast's, but Avast still has more false positives, so it's not that great there.
  
  *MSE's malware removal capabilities are superior to those of Avast.

  It also installs less crap, which is a plus.
  
  Nothing is more aggravating than a false positive, because you didn't do anything wrong as a user when that happens, but the junk antivirus makes you think that you have.
  
  Therefore,
  MSE > Avast

  And my computer has been free of problems. Well, except for this one time I turned it off to experiment with something, forgot to turn it back on, and browsed random links through 4chan for a while, and got my ass handed to me.
  
  I mean, we can all argue all we want about which is the best, but the general idea is that protection by Avast, AVG, MSE, etc are all satisfactory. If you're getting an absurdly high amount of false detections, theres probably something you're doing wrong with the settings.

  And you are right in that in the end, the level of protection they offer is more or less comparable. As in, they all suck. Some just suck more than others. :P
  Relying on AV software for security is a joke. :(

  Its generally good enough for the household web browsing. And its free. I have no complaints.
  
  And I back up the computer like once a month so if I ever screw anything up I can restore.

  The funny thing about thinking AV software is good enough is that you think everything's cool since it has not detected any threats. And that can be true. But it can also mean that there was a threat that was simply not detected. xd (Yea, I know, you can sometimes notice indirectly, but still. lolol) And you shouldn't need AV to have safe web browsing.. they aren't exactly related.

  Maybe you're hypersensitive to the issue.
  I visit many dark corners of the internet and overall haven't had a issue so far.
  
  I mean once in a while I take in spyware, mostly when I turn off my firewall or avast for something. But thats usually an easy fix.
