If you don't already, I can give you Fraps if you want to record HQ videos and take HQ pics in games as well. Seriously though, Livestream is the better choice.

Two things you need to keep in mind.
1) Connection performance requirements: You need a decent upload speed. Internet connections usually have really bad upload speeds, compared to download speeds. If you want to upload stream in real-time in decent quality, you better have a good connection.
2) Processor requirements. If you want to stream at high resolution and high quality, and your internet connection allows this, you will still be limited by your CPU if it cannot encode the video fast enough. If your game is processor intensive, you might take a performance hit there.
I've never actually tried streaming, so the above is just some general stuff to take into account. :P

And yeah your computer needs to be quite up there, unless you're just streaming simple stuff.
