Using whille scanning

This is an archive of the mabination.com forums which were active from 2010 to 2018. Scanning, depends how fast your computer is. It shouldn't really be much of a bother.

Defragging, it depends on what you use it for. If you're creating a lot of new files (i.e. web browsing) then you should avoid it, but if you're playing a small game or working on something, then it should be perfectly fine.

For malware scans, it doesn't really matter.
For defrags, you want to close all unnecessary programs to limit disk use. Or at least, this used to be true in older versions of Windows. I'm not really sure if it still matters, but that's what I do.

Scanning is okay to scan during normal computer use.

Defrag should be done with an external program, defraggler is what I use, and when you sleep.

NEVER DEFRAG RECOVERY HD.
