Whats a decent computer to get?

  Well my computer (HP Pavillion a566n) motherboard/PSU just died or something and im thinking bout getting a new computer but im like 6years out of date. I dont even know decent specs to aim for... Any tips? (Aiming for gaming and school computer, though not aiming for the best of the best, i dont have money growing on a tree or something,)

  Basically, I don't have any specific computer to tell you, but if you want to save money, do the research and build it yourself.
  
  If you need so save money, possibly reuse the case, monitor, mouse and keyboard from your HP.
  
  If you need an OS for it, see if you have a spare XP disc or something, or possibly use another (or a friends) computer and burn a Linux disc if you need it for school, and install Windows when you can afford to buy an OS.

  Making a computer would be interesting but i as said not familiar with all that stuff, parts, components, software discs,etc.

  Any pre-built computer thats above about 800 Dollars can play Vindictus and games like it. Just look at specs for things around there if you plan on making a computer? No idea, not a computer whiz either.

  Was totally just gonna order it but then i saw negative feedback on how loud the fan is. That'll be a problem since it'll be in my sisters room since our other rooms dont have as much room. Parents tend to get on it when shes sleeping and they're too stupid to care if it'll wake her, and i do sometimes too, but at least ill use headphones.

  Oh, well, this one is quieter, costs a bit more, but it does a lot more too.

  The processor is a lot better though(almost twice as better), so the fan will only start *****ing once you start abusing it to the max. Paul doesn't seem like he'll be using it to haul ass, so it'll stay quiet. I can manage to keep my fan quiet with a single core, 3 year old processor, even when playing Vindictus, so the noise shouldn't be a problem.

  An install disc. Operating Systems are usually installed with a burned CD. You can burn them yourself.

  The computer I built was cheaper, and a bit better, with a 1TB HD. Only difference is that my case is old and beige.
