Matador gored by bull

  A day after dashing Spanish bullfighter Julio Aparicio showed his dominance by cutting the ears off two vanquished bulls, one of their bovine brothers got revenge yesterday by gruesomely impaling the matador through his throat and out his mouth.
  
  As Aparicio held his red cape and sword out to face down the 1,100-pound beast named Opiparo at the Feria de San Isidor bullfighting event in Las Ventanas, Spain, the bullfighter lost his footing and the bull was able to strike.
  
  "[The horn] went though the tongue and penetrated the roof of the mouth, fracturing the jawbone," one of the medics who worked on Aparicio told AFP news in Madrid.
  
  The Seville native, a member of a well-known family of matadors, was in grave condition last night but expected to survive.

  Anywho, I hate this sport, it's not fun or interesting. He deserved it.

  These people do it for the thrill, not the money. The same concept applies to gambling. You're practically betting your life when you toss around money like that, but you'll never learn no matter how much you lose. In this specific case, its deemed "profitable" and no one discourages it, which is why we don't have rehabilitation for motor bike jumping or bull fighting.

  Probably has something to do with torturing, drugging, and disorienting an animal and then having a man dance around it like this is an accomplishment. The bull is slaughtered and the meat is sold at high prices after the event. Where is the sport in that? It would be a sport if it were a fair fight, but bulls are kept in the dark right up until the moment they're let out to confuse them, some are drugged, and all of them are tortured (stabbed, speared, etc), whereas the man gets to eat, drink, sleep, live like a normal animal and go into the ring healthy and alert. Nothing about that deserves anything less than hate.

  Not saying it deserves praise either. It's something of a tradition that'll eventually die out since new generations don't find it attractive.
  I ignore if bullfighting exists in the states (most probably not), but since I live in Mexico I've had the chance of attending some events and I can see why people love/hate it. I'm not a fan since I've gone like less than 5 times to bullfights in my entire life (I prefer bullriding, but that's just me), there's some stuff in "Las corridas" that I don't like, like how the guys in the horses (forgot the name in spanish, no idea what's in english) can really kill the mood by going overboad weakening the bull. But I would lie i I were to say there's no excitement when the real fight begins and the bull's still in good shape.
  
  Yes, you can call this sort of entertainment as barbaric, blame it on human nature. We can dress as fancy and act all civilized, but deep inside, we're still barbarians =/. Hey, I'm all for stop the bullfighting and bring back the Coliseum, since we like to kill so much we might as well kill each other... oh wait, we already do that! now let's make it an sport!
  
  Like I said, I can see why people would hate this since I'm into animal rights and all that stuff (except for cats, cats are evil), and I respect that. But I also respect the fact we have different cultures in this world and each culture has their own traditions. Bullfighting will die, rest assured, just not "soon".
  
  Is just that hey, we can hate bullfighting as much as we want, but saying stuff like "Hope next time they get his heart" doesn't make you any better than those assholes that put the bull in there.

  It's also part of the Mauritanian culture to publicly stone homosexuals to death. I'm sure we can all respect that and wait until it dies out with new generations.
  
  If watching men fight bulls and having crowds cheer for him to win (which results in death of the bull) is accepted, then there should be no problem with me watching it the other way around, hoping that the bull wins. At least if he gets his heart death will be very quick, which is unlikely to be the same for the bull.
