for using thunder, what meditation rank is good enough, and magic mastery??
i think johan told me a long time ago that when she had rank 1 thunder her meditation was left at c.
i have meditation f and mm c. my mp is 155 at [lvl 54, age 18, expl 16].

MM 6, just because it has a great Mana to AP ratio. You'll get Mana as you rank Thunder as well, so it shouldn't be too great of a problem. You could maybe make yourself a Mana-boosting set if you really wanted more Mana during rafting.

what of meditation??

Meditation and Magic Mastery both suck imo.
Meditation at Rank A (200%) will only get you 1 mana per 10 seconds (or 1 mana per 3 seconds at night), which won't help much at all when each thunder will cost around 42-100 mana every 5-15 seconds.
Magic Mastery is good if your MP is low, but it's mostly a one-time thing. After you use your initial mana, you're going to end up using the same amount of potions per Thunder - all it does is save you 1-2 pots in the beginning. (A comfortable level of mana is 250-350 total)
Like I said before, I'm stingy with AP and just don't see Magic Mastery is worth it. Although if you don't have 200ish Int, it gives easy Magic Balance which may be useful.

Magic mastery C and Meditation E here, and Rank 9 Thunder. I might rank Thunder up over the next few RBs. Meditation is useless compared to Potion Making, which I use more for all the mana potions that I get from rafting. I slap on Explorer of Rano title and I use wisp/sweet pea enchant set, giving me about 200-250 mp when rafting. I have about 250 int after equipping everything.
I only ranked magic mastery to C because I needed it to activate my mana reduction set (mana magician enchant requirements) and I also needed it to get Blaze.

Assuming you are not wearing any Balance-affecting enchants, you will need 250 Intelligence and Rank 6 Magic Mastery for 100% Magic Balance. With Magic Mastery at Novice, you will need 290 Intelligence for 100% Magic Balance.
I'd say r6 Magic Mastery is pretty essential. You get 110 MP total and 10% magic balance from it. But like they said before the mana only helps early on. But you could save allot of potions if you're rafting at lower lvl's, because you'll be able to rely on leveling up to restore your mana for longer.
But more important is the magic balance. Thunder has a really large damage gap, so you really need 100% magic balance to get some consistency in your damage.

oshi.. so i gotta raise my int up to 250 >.<

^ 100% Magic Balance is at r6/250 Int or rN/290 Int without a wand, iirc.
Meaning with a Lightning Wand, you would only need rN/210 Int or r6/170 Int.
With a Crystal Lightning Wand, that's rN/140 Int or r6/100 Int.
Wiki states that "only wands affect the balance of spells," which I think is true.

My elf has R6 Thunder, RA Meditation and I can safely say Meditation does crap all for Thunder. :D
When you're running a dungeon or something and the fone rings or you need to take a crap, don't forget to turn on meditation to regian some of that mp goodness.

You're all nuts.
Meditation is useful. ANY skill that gives MP is useful. Though as a Giant this is more important since we get a lot less MP from skills and levels. I'd kill to be able to get more MP as cheaply as you can from mastery and meditation. :P
Though as a Giant I mostly got these skills for the boost to Mana Shield, they prove highly useful.
- r6 Thunder
- r6 Mastery (cap)
- r9 Meditation (cap)
- r6 Mana Shield (cap)
- r1 Icebolt
- r1 Firebolt
- r4 Healing
- r7 Composing (cap)
- r7 Musical Knowledge (giant cap w/o handbells)
I'm currently working on Alchemy Mastery as I rank Barrier Spikes (and soon, Life Drain and Summon Golem), and I may start on Mana Crystallization eventually. The Magic Shields also give 10 mana each, but I don't want to invest the 80-100 AP each for 10 MP, it's just not worth it. Yet. But eventually, I want every MP-giving skill maxed. As for Thunder, I'm leaving it at r6 for a while -- 250AP for r6->1 is a lot, plus I need to keep my CP low (if you can call 1300-1500 low :P) until I max out Stomp and Fireball.

Ekat needs to burn a Racoon Cub and then find a viper>Jackal>Racoon
Just save up 200k NX for Enchant pots and hope you dont need them.

Giantesses don't have any magical clothing. Period. If we want -CP in the body slot, then we have to get either a Marble Valencia, a Marble Rose Plate, or a Marble Colin Plate. Only armor of those three that would be ideal for the enchant is the Valencia, only because it can be blacksmithed to have better stats. Rose Plates cost more to repair per point at 98%, and Colin Plates aren't exactly easy to get for most Giantesses. So, compared to every other character, the most -CP we can get is -1300 compared to everyone else's -1800. Much more noticeable compared to everyone else.

Useful? Yes. Worth AP? Maybe not.
Like I said, maximum mana is a one-time thing. After you use up your mana pool, it's all about efficiency from that point on, the extra mana doesn't give you extra damage or a bonus to potions so you're exactly the same as somebody with a smaller pool. ~350 is a comfortable amount so that you can use either MP100s or MP300s withour worrying about overpotting or drying up too fast.
Yes, Meditation artificially increases mana efficiency, but even at Rank 9 (current cap) mana regeneration is only 0.105 per second during the day or 0.315 per second at night (iirc, Elves regen faster and Giants regen slower). That's
barely helpful at all.. unless you afk or idle a lot.
The
only reasons I see it worth while to go beyond 350 mana is because you're either Mana Shielding or because you want to take advantage of Pot Poison or Friday bonuses... or have nothing else worth ranking. The initial bonus from maximum MP is insignificant otherwise.
