I have not watched a single episode, EVER. I don't really have anything to watch at the moment, the shounen trio are boring me, so I'm thinking about going ahead and just watching the entire NGE anime and then ovas, extras, etc, and then jump to the movies just cause I want to know what all the hype is about. Although I've read that the movies is just the anime remade into a movie with better quality, minor changes, etc. Should I just watch the movies as they come out (2 out of 4 are out) or just watch the series?

I'm not sure about the movies, but aren't they suppose to be a remake of the ending (Last 2 episodes?) of the anime?

I dunno, thats why I'm asking lulz o_o
kinda weird to be making 4 movies (each fairly long) for 2 episodes

Wasn't there a remake edition or something? I believe those movies were the endings for NGE if I remember correctly.

I think it's multiple endings.
Anyways, the anime is good :D.

Hmm, not sure if there are multiple versions but I found a "Remastered" version which I'm assuming is a remade version with better quality or something.... Lol?

Watch the remake.
Its not as slow paced. Because you'll often get 10 minutes of shinji sitting there listening to his cassette player (which back then they probably assumed we'd still be using in 2015).

Watched the first 6 episodes of the tv series.
Just finished torrenting Evangelion 1.11 in Blu Ray... frigging 7~8 GB... I've read, on MAL, first movie is basically recapp of first 6 episodes, so gonna watch that in a bit if I have time.
Anyways, I don't see whats so amazing about NGE. Typical wimpy male character, typical female character who fairly emotionless... haven't really gotten to others yet.

I just skimmed the movie, it's exactly the same as the series, expect with no censored scenes. Every frame is the same, literally, so I'm just gonna watch Movie 2 and skip a few TV episodes. The Movie quality is like modern anime quality, thats much much better for someone like me to watch without skipping scenes because I can't stand how the artwork is so old and stale.

Around episode 16, things start getting more psychological.

Its also the fact that the entire series is based on the Genesis chapter of the bible in anime form.
