If less people want to crack a system then there would be less viruses/whatever. Wouldn't that make it safer? Then when something does happen is easier to fix because the information from Googling would be more exact.
Also, I use Linux because...
1. It actually runs smoothly on my computer.
2. The entire system layout and GUI is more logical than Windows. Personally I like Vista more than XP for this reason also.
Linux and Mac don't get patched as often for viruses; more often than not, they don't even attempt it, which leaves the system open to attack. Also, it is near impossible to get rid of most viruses that infect Mac or Linux, other than a reformat.
I also like Linux, but I hate when people get elitist over their OS (I have a friend that'll belittle EVERY distro of Linux, just because he uses Slackware, with no customization).
