Graduation gift, planning on getting new computer.

  Love newegg, one of the sites my teacher showed us for our projects. Ordered around 700$ in parts, saved by not getting a monitor. Amd cpus are much cheaper than a intel one of the same speed?
  
  Case just got here today, i love it. Now to wait until the rest of the parts get here tomorrow. *stares at case for 24 hours*

  AMD is a lot cheaper but you get what you pay for. Look at benchmarks of competing amd/intel cpus.
  Ever since multi-core processors started out, amd has been crap. I still have an amd single core in my old PC and it works great compared to an intel single core from back then, but when you try an amd multi core VS intel it just gets raped (without lube).

  Update here, i think i need a new monitor.
  
  Finished putting in the basics "1 harddrive, ram.cpu, mb, powersupply, cdrom" before i set up the graphics card and wireless and 2nd harddrive.
  Plug it in, turn it on, no signal input. Thought it might be a problem with the onboard video, so tried thegraphics card. Still nothing.
  Thinking it might be the hd or dvddrive, i disconected those to see if i could get bios to show up. Nothing.
  deciding to ensure my motherboard was working at all, as even though the lights were on and dvddrive opened and closed, i took out the ram, and tried booting.
  
  Got the loud post error for ram, concluded my motherboard was fine, and tested the monitor on a computer my mom uses often.
  
  didnt get the no signal input error like usual, but it still didnt show anything on the screen.
  
  
  I knew i should have ordered a new monitor instead of planning on useing one around the house.

  Try installing the RAM into the other set of slots. I had this issue when I helped my friend build a comp. The motherboard's manual recommended putting both RAM sticks into the blue slots, and leaving the two black slots empty, unless you're using 4 RAM sticks. There was no video output. So he installed his two RAM sticks into the black slots instead and it worked. O_o

  ill try that. As another update, i got 2 new monitors tonight because the one we had has been failing for a long time according to my mom, and i took the one for my new computer out, tried it still no signal input.
  
  Im at a loss as to why this can be, im trying to troubleshoot but the main thing i see that may cause a problem is the powersupply that came with the case is only 350watts. The motherboard has lights and fans working, the cpu im 100% sure i installed properly, and while i get no video i can still open and close the dvddrive.
  
  
  If only i could remember the problem, im sure this happened in our class before, and i think the culprit there was the powersupply, but my memory is fuzzy i guess.
  
  Got some rather strange results when i tried switching the ram to different slots.
  
  2 slots had it start up as normal, without signal to the monitor. One slot the computer refused to even boot, and the final one gave me the post error indicating no ram. Its possible i didnt seat the ram in fully on the last one, but im starting to think it is the ram. The powersupply being only 350 watts also worries me for some reason.
