Don't know where i heard this from, but i think i was told that hotspot shield lets you get past blocked ports such as a hotel to play things like mabi and grandchase
Now im not trying to do anything illegal. im staying at a hotel and i wanted to play mabi or grand chase but apparently they have their ports blocked.
So i asked the hotel and they said if i can find a way to get past the port and use the game then thats fine. Their IT Technician has been called but will be here in like 2 days >_>
So they allowed me to see if a few proxies and such work as long as i dont do anything illegal. Signed stuff and everything.
So i was just wondering, what could go through thep rots being blocked? I installed hotspot shield but it seems to be an internet thing. Is it a proxy masker or something?
Basically i need the same thing that lets people play in games that have blocked their country. something that bypasses that i suppose.
Any suggestions would be nice, and yes i know this seems sketchy lol but i stay at this hotel a lot, so im known pretty well there and a frequent member.

Hotspot Shield is an implementation of VPN. It is a form of proxy, or more accurately a tunnel, which grabs all of your computer's network traffic, and jams it into the Hotspot Shield VPN tunnel, which typically runs through the HTTPS (443) port. The traffic exits the tunnel at a server that your Hotspot Shield connects to, and is essentially converted back to its original form, as it was sent by your computer. The server then forwards your traffic to whatever web service you were trying to access. Same thing happens in reverse, when you receive communication back. The point of all of this is to make all the traffic coming to and going from your computer fall under the HTTPS port, which is almost never blocked by ISPs, web filters, etc.
The downside here is that web services providers (such as Nexon) will see your client's IP as Hotspot Shield server's. As such, they can figure out what you're doing and possibly block the IP to prevent people from proxying using that server, or ban accounts. :P I don't think Nexon bans accounts, but I heard that they did block Hotspot Shield, so it will in fact no longer work. :(
There are other tunneling solutions, but you have to keep in mind that it's against the ToS and whatnot.

It will work with other games if the companies hosting them didn't block the Hotspot Shield servers' IPs.
