Hello this will be a basic guide on Healthy eating in Mabinogi. Eating is something many people ignore in mabinogi, this guide is going to hopefully teach everyone in the game how to eat healthy in mabinogi and wisely.

Why Eat?
[/SIZE][/FONT]Eating in Mabinogi is very important, there are many different kinds of food and each type will give a bonus in stats. These stat boosts can be anywhere between small stat boosts (such as from Jams) or large stat boosts (from more complex food like Spaghetti ). These stat boosts can help you in every day life-skill tasks by increasing Dex for creation or Luck for gathering, or in combat situations increasing Str and Int.
Eating basic foods such as bread or berries will give you a Semi-Permanent stat boost (until your next rebirth), of course you would have to eat these foods in large ammounts in order to get the boost, for a Table on the basic food stat boosts please follow this Link.
Food also effects your stamina usage, those that are very hungry will use stamina more than those that are full.
Eating Problems
Of course with every good thing there are problems.
The main problem with eating food and the major reason why people avoid eating food is if you are not wise with your choices you will gain weight (just like in real life!). Many people, especially Fashinogi's, will avoid eating food at all costs, and will even make excuses like "I don't eat I use trans".

Eating Wisely
[/SIZE][/FONT]There are a few basic steps to eating wisely in mabinogi which I will cover in two steps below;
Step A) Choosing your look
Before you even start looking at food you need to decide what you want your character to look like, as food greatly will effect your appearance in mabinogi. Using simulators such as Mabinogi Character Sim 2, or NA Nexon's Simulator can help with this.
Keep in mind food will effect 3 Points, Upper(Arms, Chest), Lower(legs, butt), and Body(Fat/weight)
When you have your target look it will be time to...
Step B) Choose a Diet
To do this you will have to take the time to browse the Mabinogi Wiki and each section of foods, what your going to be looking for is:
[INDENT]1) how the food effects your body
2) the stat gain you get from the food
3) Foods hidden effects (Explained below)[/INDENT]
Keep in mind different foods will increase your Upper/Lower/Body by points so you will have to choose foods that will keep you around the same as your Target look, so its always important to add 2-3 food to your diet.
[INDENT]1) One that will greatly increase Upper/Lower/Body in your target look
2) One that will slightly increase Upper/Lower/Body in your target look
3) And finally one that will decrease negative (and positive) Upper/Lower/Body in your target look.[/INDENT]
For example: Lets say your a Melee fighter and you wanted to increase your lower to have a large ass and strong thighs but you did not want it too get TOO big your diet would look something like this

Corn Scone: To increase lower to your target weight and give a nice boost in Str and other stats.2)

Bouillabaisse: To decrease lower when you go slightly over your target and give a nice STR Boost.[/INDENT][SIZE="4"][FONT="Arial Black"]When to eat[/FONT][/SIZE]
Even if you choose a careful diet you can always get overweight if you eat foods past 100% Fullness.
It is always important to choose foods that will not bring you over this. When you have slected your target diet, take a look at how much your food increases your Fullness, for example in the above example the Bouillabaisse will increase fullness by 20 Points.
This means the maximum you can eat a Bouillabaisse is at 80% Fullness, any higher and you will gain weight.
There are two ways you can decrease your Fullness very quickly.
[INDENT]1) Keeping stamina low, with low stamina your hunger will decrease faster
2) Using Meditation, Mediation is a skill that increases mana usage but it stops Stamina recovery and causes you to become hungry faster.[/INDENT]
Note: (In G14s3 you can eat food at 99% hunger to 100% hunger and not gain weight, right now if you tried to do this you would get fat)

Importance of Cooking
[/FONT][/SIZE]Besides the obvious fact that cooking will allow you to cook the foods on your diet, cooking also increases the amount of time you will gain stat boosts.
For example A player with rank Novice Cooking will keep stat boosts for 8minutes, a player with rank 6 cooking will keep stat boosts for 15minutes and 12 seconds, This is pretty amazing.
Remember above when I said that using the excuse "I don't need to eat because I use trans" is an excuse. I said this because of how Cooking time effects how long you keep your stats. Refer to the case study below for an example.

Player A and Player B enter Ciar dungeon. Both players have 20 strength and trans. Player A notices it is getting close to trans time (5:50) and uses trans WITHOUT eating. Player A's Fullness is now 100%.
Player B Notices it is near trans time and eats/drinks a Vales Fire and then uses Trans. Player B's Fullness is now 100% and player B has a slight stat boost.
Player B has rank Novice cooking.
Both players trans last for 4 minutes before vanishing.
When Player A and Player B lose trans, who has more strength?
