Hello, this is a simple and quick guide to ciar adv.
This is more like a recording system for me. Since i haven't done ciar adv in a while, my mind's becoming fuzzy whenever i run it, and i get confused on what to do; messing up greatly. I'm pretty sure i'm not the only one though~
Please keep in mind that this guide is for r1 windmiller who prefers soloing Ciar adv; it will not discuss range, and only brush through magic.
Weapon Choice
Do's:
Duel Wield weapons; preferably ones that will hit CONSISTENT damage. Make sure they are also SLOW or VERY SLOW hitting weapons. Also, if your weapons are strong enough so that they can 1hko the Dark Rats with a pretty high rate, (80%), Ciar adv will become very easy for you =)
A two handed sword; this is for the windmill stun time. I use my ego, but if you have other egos, feel free to use upgraded claymores, dragon blades, etc.
Don't's:
ANY weapon that has the attack frequency of "Normal" or "Fast"
Shields
The duel-wield weapons will be your primary weapons. It is highly recommended that you upgrade them (I prefer upgraded gladiuses or broadswords if you have high dex). The two handed sword will be useful in the miniboss and the boss fights. I also recommend that you have a fast pet you can finish off monsters with. Syrphid emphasized the role of pets, and he's definitely correct.
Mob Types!!
Red Rat + Dark Rat Mob
Contrary to what people tell you, it's a better idea to go for the Dark Rat mob. At this point, you should AT LEAST be able to 1hko Red Rats, and being able to 1hko dark rats will make this group seem so easy. Just go to the middle of the biggest dark rat mob and windmill away! defense should be used if another mob aggros you, and you didn't use your windmill properly if you get more than one monster to aggro you after your first windmill.
Dark Rat + Green Snakes
Same as the above, except try to hit one green snake in the process. Aggro locking is the key when fighting snakes. Also, as you windmill, try to have the dark rat be closer, because with windmill, it seems that the monster closest to you at the time of windmill aggros; creating a nice aggro lock if you manage to perform it well.
Red Rats
Do i really need to say it...? by this time, everyone should be able to 1hko red rats properly...
Dark Rats - hate this spawn >.>
Rather dangerous because of their wide aggro range. It is highly recommended that you be able to 1hko Dark rats and take out at least 3 with the first windmill. use pets and magic against ones with low hp or multiaggro.
Laghodessa Spawn
A rather easy mob as well; using windmill in this mob will cause aggro lock guaranteed (unless you're an idiot and windmill only one or take too long). These monsters will likely take you two windmills to kill. Please please please be careful when finishing off a laghodessa, because other laghodessas CAN aggro you. to prevent this, windmill other laghodessas as well.
Laghodessa + Dark Rat
Same as above, but go for the dark rats first; the laghodessas should be aggro locked if you hit one of them as well as the rats.
Green Snake Spawn
They have high attack, but they are single aggro, so no problems here. If you get leather from them, good for you!
Red Rat + Dark Rat + Green Snake
This mob is no different from the Red Rat + Dark Rat mob. Just make sure you go for the Dark rats first.
Bug Bears
Remember when i told you to get two-handers? now's the time to use it!!! Fill your stamina up with potions or resting, and windmill spam!!! If you see it using defense, use smash with caution (may cause multiaggro if not careful)
Note that if you press windmill too early, it may delay you, causing enough time for the bug bear to attack you. However, if using a two hander; you should be okay 90% of the time (the other 10% being the cause of lag or heavy stander activation)
Giant Lightning Sprites
Don't let their Heavy Stander nor Thunder discourage you, these are actually quite easy!
First, when you enter the boss room, you should notice that they're at the center. It is also a good choice to use your two hander here too.
CAREFULLY lure one without aggroing any other monster (range may be a choice), and go to a corner, away from monsters. Make it run into your windmill. immediately after using windmill, charge smash and use it. The lightning sprite will charge lightningbolt or Thunder after being knocked back with windmill. Since you charge smash faster (while in windmill animation phrase), your smash should be charged as you reach the sprite. At this point, please make sure not to aggro any other monsters; this stage will be easy to do that. After smash, use 1 icebolt and run back to your corner. Windmill again, repeat until it is dead =)
Although some people like to spam AR because of its Natural Shield level 1, I recommend my method since there is the "Miss" factor in range, and it's rather difficult to charge AR again after using AR (the game wants to charge Ranged Attack instead)
Golem
Golems can be annoying, because all they do is charge windmill. There are many strategies in beating these guys, but there is an overall-effective way to tell which moves they are using. Use a two hander against them for best results. With no lag, you should be able to windmill spam. Even if you can't, defense is a good choice afterwards.
Golem Flashes, and its skill bubble bounces once: it is using Defence
Golem Flashes, and its skill bubble bounces twice: it is using smash; it will run to you shortly.
Golem Doesn't flash, and its skill bubble loads quickly: it is using windmill
Golem Doesn't flash, and it is rotating its arms in the air: It is using stomp.
One method that I use is that I keep using firebolt on it. Although it shouldn't do significant damage, it will change its attack methods. Even if it persists to use windmill or stomp, you can back it up into a corner and smash mill it
The teleporting Golems are not much different, except i recommend more counterattack and windmill into the mix.
Conclusion:
Use Strong 1h weapons, Duel-Wield
For Miniboss and Boss, use your two-hander
Use Aggro-lock wisely and go for dark rats first
magic and pets should be used to stun/finish weak monsters (Please Please Please put your pet into Command Mode. In the video you see below, you'll see the consequences of you NOT doing so)
Please let me know if i missed something (which i probably have; considering i wrote this guide within 20 minutes). The information here is for informative purposes, but please at least put it in quotes when using it elsewhere~
