  Yesterday I played a bit, but, does anyone have any advice/tips/something because I find mining to be a pain because of giant worms, and ore seems to be somewhat rare, so I'm running around with no armor specifically avoiding caves because of a lack of decent tools/weapons/armor.
  
  It's kind of annoying. :(

  It all comes down to luck, really. You should use the copper you get, to make armor. And anything else, you make a better pickaxe for mining. Once you get a nice pick that goes at a speed that no longer feels slow for you, start working on some better armor/weapons.
  
  BOWS ARE VERY EFFECTIVE IN THE BEGINNING LEVELS.
  Especially since arrows are so easy to make~ rock and wood

  Combine a water bottle (go near water with an empty bottle and craft it) Blinkroot, Moonglow, and 1 gold ore.
  The potion is called "Spelunker Potion".
  It highlights ores, even in the darkness of the underground.
  Sure it takes 1 gold ore, but that's not that bad if you use the potion underground where there are bound to be many ore deposits in the ground.
  
  Also use clay to make pots to plant herbs to grow.
  When herbs are "blooming" they drop 1 herb and 1~3 seeds of that herb's type.
  Daybloom blooms during the day once it's fully grown.
  Blinkroot blooms and unblooms randomly. It gives off light when it's blooming.
  Moonglow blooms during the night. Found by exploring the jungle (explore the jungle at night so they'll be blooming when you cut them to get seeds)
  Waterleaf blooms when it's submerged in water (or the pot is underwater if you're growing them in pots.) They grow in deserts. xD Weird huh? When you find one make a wall on each side of the waterleaf then put water from a bucket in the hole and then cut the flower for seeds.
  
  Those are the herbs I've easily found so far. xD
  
  Deathweed is found in the Corruption, but you need to cut it during a blood moon to get seeds, so growing it can be difficult.
  Fire... something. Dunno, haven't found it yet. It's an herb that's found in Hell I think. It's like waterleaf, but it blooms in lava instead of water.
  Can't remember any other herbs. D:
  
  Anyways, growing herbs to make potions can be very helpful.
  Growing in pots makes herbs unable to be cut with anything be a click with a pickaxe so you won't accidentally cut them down with a sword when they're not ready.

  Only found 4 hearts and not enough iron for a full suit of armor. xD
  
  But at least I got potions >:o
  So funny how Regeneration potions aren't affected by Potion Sickness since they "technically" heal you (if slowly).

  Copper equipment and armor are decent enough to start mining underground and not expect too much trouble. And copper is the most abundant ore you'll find in the ground, since it's the "cheapest" ore. Remember that tools require the least amount of bars to make, while armor pieces require the most.
  
  You can stay at the upper levels of the underground to mine for Iron Ores, since Iron is generally also abundant and better than Copper. Every ore after Iron is rare to get.

  Night Owl Potion + Shine Potion + Orb of Light (nerfed since I last saw it :[) = So much light :D
  
  I just wish Night Owl Potion lasted 5 minutes instead of 4. :|
  It runs out 1 minute before most of my other buffs do.
  And with the other effects, Night Owl makes a REALLY big difference in how much light there is. xD
  
  I'm gonna start digging a tunnel straight down underneath my house so I can start an easily accessible Glowing Mushroom farm since I need them for stronger healing potions as well as the Shine Potion.
  
  Also gotta fight Eater of Worlds for things to make the shadow armor.
  Iron armor isn't cutting it. :[

  Also Hellstone Armor ftw yo! Though I still wish I had meteorite for the free laser gun ammo :D
  
  BTW I have practically never used potions since I got the Hellstone armor simply because that + 400hp basically means u can survive anything. Just about.
