My laptop jsut recently overheated, and it seems as if my sound card is either overheated or broken because it makes ticking sounds. Also my laptop start ups and loads slower, is my laptop permanently like this or is it just the small symptom of the laptop?

Depends on where the ticking sounds coming from. If you are hearing it from the HD, the HD is about to be dead soon.

I don't understand. My laptop is basically on all day, but it's never overheated. It has a built in fan though, but it's always pretty hot.

If the ticking sound only happens when I play music, could it possibly be the hard drive? Is it possible? o.o

I dunno what kind of laptop you're using, but mine is always quite nice. In the two years I've had it, it's only shut itself off once (dunno if it overheated or what though...).

mine overheats like crazy.
all. the. time.
take it to best buy or somewhere so they'll open it and see if any dust got stuck in the fan or something.

I'm guessing that it's slower because the CPU underclocks itself to try to generate less heat.
The ticking noise probably means that some component on the motherboard has died. It's probably a permanent thing. I suggest you back up your important data, because the laptop could randomly die. :(
