The point of being against necroing threads?

  I also don't quite understand why people are concerned about the necro'ing persons motives are either. It seems that post count, like reputation, is sort of just a way that the community can tell how active and reputible you are. If a person has a few extra posts because they necro'd a thread, I don't think it will really increase their standing with the community, especially if the community sees them making those useless posts. Should the Bean Rua be destroyed because people can spam it to get a higher post count from it?

  
  
  I thing banning for that is too much. An infraction or even a warning should suffice. What I think is people wouldn't feel the need to say "don't necro, it's against the rules" if it wasn't against the rules in the first place.
  
  People who want to make useless posts should do so in Bean Rua. While I don't think we should have a necro rule, I also don't think that people should make posts that don't even have to do with the topic.
  
  The concern is that post count doesn't necessarily indicate how much a person contributes to the community, what they say does. One could make useful posts AND have a high post count, but that doesn't mean that more posts make someone a good active member. The rep system and post count aren't necessarily related. A lot of posts don't mean good rep. People shouldn't think post count is what matters. That goes for people that do/don't necro. If they're going to make a post just for the sake of posting, why? It defeats the purpose of making a post in a thread with a specific topic.
  
  Also, Bean Rua gives no post count, or gold.
  
  If anything, I think there should just be a limit as to how many old threads one person can revive at a time. I admit I'd be really annoyed seeing the front page flooded with nothing but old threads, but I wouldn't mind just a few.

  Oh I see. Didn't it use to? I know it never gave gold, but I thought it added to post count last time I checked (which was several months ago, I took a rather long break from facebook and internet forums).

  It's kind of a case by case thing. It's unlikely you'll get slapped for it so I really wouldn't even bother asking. I trust most people can make that judgement call.

  necro'd threads don't come up on the front page, but it does on new posts search.

  Also some necro'd threads have interesting information, but tbh, most of the necro'd threads I've seen and locked have one person, probably new to the forums, posting something that's not really contributing to the discussion in the first place.
  
  Like Arsik said, "lolololol", or "cool", or something similar, aren't reason enough to bump a thread.
  
  It's too much work to have a moral code on whether to bump a thread or not, there's too much gray area. So we make 2 months the absolute limit (outside of guides and occasionally BR), and it makes the mods' jobs a little easier.
  
  
  In most cases the bumped thread doesn't have much use anyway.
