I've figured out that Defence is the next step to rank, but I am also considering these two skills.
Wood work seems fun, and I've found out that higher grade quality woods give extra success to burn rates.
Which should I go for?
If I ever decide to rank counter much later, will I have a problem with it?

Counter is easy to rank you just need 30% Crit to get crits on the weaker stuff to rank it and there is no Monster lvl req so you dont have to worry about CP.
It is probably the easiest skill to get to rank 1 o.o well its not useful to me I only got rank 1 for the dex :S

It's settled then I'm doing wood working.
I need the wood for barrier spikes and enchanting so it's a really good support skill to have.

Carpentry (which is what I assume Wood Working is, and what it's currently called on the wiki) is G11S2.
That's pretty much all it says...

You can get from rF to like r2 or something in like one dungeon doing nothing but spam counter. It is really easy. Just gain it when you have plenty of AP.

Someone with an unknown campfire rank used high quality wood and the burn success was 74%.
I'm Rank 2 enchant so my usual burn rates are 70-71% depending on the rank of campfire if the wood is of normal quality.
This is going to be extremely helpful for enchant burning.
If nobody knows where to find this information, I cannot test yet since I can't get to make the high and highest quality wood until I'm like Rank 9 carpentry.

That IS wicked useful. I agree wholeheartedly, go for the wood working/carpentry, counter is a joke to rank (seriously). I'm an avid magic-counter fighter so bolts and counter = joke ranking to me really. You get no real benefit from counter being a higher rank other than a bit of dex so i wouldn't bother until later. Only reason hate's is R1 is its a low CP skill and I use it so much having it R1 along side my R1 bolts, magic-counter is kind of badass now lol.

And you can make a nice profit from the crafted/sigged bows you will make from ranking up.

According to jWiki, at r1 enchanting and finest firewood you can get 81% burn rate. Here's a chart I took a screen shot of:

That looks...extremely useful. :glare:

81% is really helpful...
Now all we need is higher campfire ranks to be released so it can get bumped to 90%!
