I accidentally did some crap on my CPU and I think I triggered a hidden func. Now it's a pain to actually hear things with out cranking the volume. Prior to this I could have it on 5-12 and I could hear it just right. If I wanted it to be loud I would crank it up to 20. Does anyone know what I did?

What details should I share?
I tried going to Sound Settings, but nothing I did affected the sound.

1. What did you specifically do?
2. Does it only effect a game?

I'm guessing you're using Windows XP and you screwed with the Volume Control. Most likely, you set the volume on the Wave output too low. Click the speaker icon to bring up the Volume Control and make sure you didn't set Wave too low. xP
I don't think this applies to Windows 7, and I'm not sure about Vista. But if you have one of those operating systems, you should tell us more about how your sound is currently configured (screenshots welcome).
