  It would be pretty obvious if someone who blandly didnt deserve votes suddenly showed up with like 80 votes for himself. Tbh I thoguth the yearly awards were pretty justified and wasnt a complete popularity contest. The nominees were all really great people who did their parts in making mabination great. I wouldnt have had any complaints if any one of them won.
  
  
  As far as I'm concerned, this website has a solid lifespan ahead of it, especially if mabinogi 2 does well.

  You never know how people can be. Even though it's nice to think we're all wonderful people who wouldn't do that, I'm sure there are some here that would.
  
  As others have said monthly is too much/we already have the end of the year awards. I would however be open to maybe tri-monthly awards, 1 and 2 month seem like too much, and it would get old fast.

  You wouldn't be popular in the first place if you weren't a cool guy with good things to say, and considered a forum is about a place where you socialize, I have no idea why member of the ____ wouldn't actually be a popularity contest and nothing else. Why the complaints?
  
  As far as other member awards went, like guide of the year, they weren't about popularity. They were about the guides. So no one really needs to be butthurt about stuff like this.

  Perhaps the voting should be based on a rubric? Voters could rate each member based on several different factors.
  
  1. Contributions to the Nation (Guides/Research/etc)
  2. Community Assistance (Answering any questions that other members present)
  3. Attitude (The members attitude towards other players. Their ability to deal with opposing points of view)
  4. Notable Activity (This does not mean post count. Ignoring spam and similar +1 stuff, how frequently the member posts on the nation)
