Refusing?

This rune allows you to fuse together the stats of one item with the appearance of another. All wearable equipment (except shields) can be fused, but fused items must be of the same equipment type. Fusions cannot fail. Once an item is fused, it is bound to you and cannot be re-fused. Identical items cannot be fused."

So it seems like the answer is no.

I believe it's possible, but you need to use unbind potions first.

That's what I heard anyway. Source is the guide on official forums about fusing equips on to premium rookie to make dyeing cheaper.
