This thread's discussion didn't head in the direction I had hoped it would :<

find a new word. you aren't slutty unless you actually are a slut, which implies you sleep around. making a judgement call on someone based on what they wear is judging them based on their chosen methods of expression. wearing something you deem inappropriate or distasteful does not have anything to do with what they do (whether they are slutty or not). this discussion is pretty pretentious, imho.
on-topic: i like the hip straps. i was wondering what they were, also.
I wonder why people fans of thongs/g-strings are so against the fact that they are considered provocative/slutty/whatever the hell you want to call it ಠ_à²
correlation, not causation, et cetera.

exactly.
It's also a great way to garner attention from people, but not everyone likes to be ogled and leered at by men.
especially if you have an overprotective boyfriend.. ohh lordy.

Sluts are superior anyway. Bonobo civilisation > human civilisation anytime.

I am happy that you feel that way about this topic.

I'm sorry, what was that last part? Also, I think it's because they don't want to be thought of that way just for liking something because of it's history or something.

That's partially the only reason I dislike some clothing, but honestly: Why can't someone wear a certain thing without being called a hoe or getting harassed or something?
Also, I'd possibly end up being that "overprotective boyfriend", but only if it gets to the point in which a guy starts saying "distasteful" things to her or even try to DO something inappropriate.

last part meant that provocative wear is simply correlated with sluttiness, not a cause of it. I know men who are not turned on by that sort of thing but they are in the minority. It's just hormones, not history.
And it's also just common sense. If you show off a lot of cleavage, going around complaining about how men don't talk to your face loses validity (And if you're an overprotective boyfriend, the leerer will get beat up). Leering and harassment is never justified, but being in denial about the nature of the clothing you wear is much worse to me.
And also, I'm not calling everyone who wears a thong a slut. It's just not considered anything but provocative to the general public, and I am very surprised that this concept is hard to grasp. I don't make the rules.
they're nice for no panty-lines, though.

Do you look down on me Mamae?
I think you'd look sexy regardless of what you wore.

I know they're still hot. It's just kinda sucky you can't always dress just how you feel without people reacting negatively or giving you unwanted types of attention.
Also, though it's a bit off-topic, I'm curious. Why don't females often bare their midriffs? I like seeing them. Then again, not everyone has a nice flat belly.

To be honest, it's pretty easy to make them not visible. Usually when you know they are wearing because they want you to know, or are aware of it.
y'know?

If everyone bared it, I think it would be the norm.
Some men find collarbones erotic, but it's still not considered indecent to bare them.
Just a culture thing. Even I wouldn't bare my mid unless I was going swimming (and even then I wear a one-piece >_>)
as for dressing, best thing to do is to just do whatever you want and not give a fk about what other people think of you. It just sucks really bad when you're being objectified by men if you dress provocatively.
It's even worse if you're a female at the gym.
