i would recommend to make 2 mtu batch files
mtu1500.bat
and
mtu(what ever you use).bat
its much easier to switching between them that way.
in case anyone doesn't know how to make a batch file, just make a text document
type in: netsh interface ipv4 set subinterface "Local Area Connection" mtu=nnnn store=persistent
and change the file name from . txt to .bat
Great advice! I'll do that later today. Would this work well with Vindictus btw?

I just changed my MTU to 368 and am about to reboot right now. Let's see how this goes...

So what's the catch?
I just set my MTU to 368, and my speed went from 60 MBps to 32 MBps..
might be my provider randomly screwing me tho

Step 4) Within that folder, there might be a value named MTU. If there isn't, create a d-word value named MTU. Modify that value and change the number to what please you. You can use Hex:MTU ratio examples that I found such as 96:150, 146:326, and 500:1280
96= faster loading skills?

lowering your mtu slows down your connection overall, it might make your skills load faster but everything else will become slower
Also i don't recommend anyone to change MTU during this time as you'll feel server sided lag much more. And as we know, servers are crap right now

I tried this for Vindictus. It made the game smoother, but it refused to let anyone connect to me to join a boat.

Same exact thing but instead of the MTU you set, use 1500. 1500 is the default for windows iirc.

If you have trouble doing it through the command prompt, you can download TCP Optimizer and use that, it's not really required but it can be helpful if you can't figure it out

You don't need a static IP to change your MTU...

You don't "need" one per se, but it's helpful to have one. I no longer change my MTU while playing games, so I might be off, but your internet may start bugging out if you don't have a static IP. Honestly I forget.
But yeah, you're right. You don't need one, but it's helpful to have one iirc.

On my Windows Vista, this worked for me when it kept saying "Element Not Found"
In your code, netsh interface ipv4 set subinterface "Wireless Network Connection" mtu=xxxx store=persistent , Where you enter "Wireless Network Connection", try entering "Wireless Network Connection 1" instead. If that doesn't work, try "Wireless Network Connection 2", and so on if it still isn't working.
I got this from someone earlier who also kept getting Element Not Found, and they said it was solved by finding out their network was called Wireless Network Connection 5. I tried that and it got a different error, so decided to try from 1, 2, and so on. Mine ended up working on Wireless Network Connection 2. I hope this helps. I made an account on here just to comment with this hahaha
