i'm level 50 just starting on hoarfrost depths and i was wondering, should i go large shield? i seem to be noticing more and more smash happy bosses where i have a bit of trouble countering .-.
Thanks ahead of time.
i also have a 5+ misery horn shield sitting in my bag, just about 1k defence 15 str 73 will 8 crit resistance and damage the opponent over time from misery
and 5+ un enchanted eagle heart
SIDE QUESTION
how should i arrange my paladin points, i kinda want second level paladin trans first thing .-.
SECOND SIDE QUESTION
laghodessa slayer set, what should i upgrade to eventually. i will probably use this till level 61
third side question
should i rank up shield charge? i've seen it do some serious damage and even be the main damage when you have to solo things that require massive amounts of heavy standing. (watched a sword fiona solo irukul with it and perfect HSing)
Fourth side question
how expensive would shining will be to make assuming i dropped 1-300k here and there to buy a few of the more expensive and hard to farm items, same thing for the black hammer (set and weapon), and should i get 5+ on a black hammer without upgrade protection or go buy nx and protect potion it till 10+
And does using a large shield till i get comfortable enough with the boss to try using a small shield and get counter in there seem good or just turtling?

use both small and large. each has their own use in certain missions. if the boss is easily countered you can go with a small shield. if its quite difficult to counter the boss then go with large. use each one in a mission if you to see which one you would prefer to use in it.

Ahh, so dropping 400k to buy my 5+ misery horn shield was a good idea then x3

I think Large Shields are clumsy and heavy (just an opinion, probably wrong) and I don't use them, but I've run only a few Hoarfrost Hollow battles, and I only pulled off one counter per fight, so being able to HS and not get knocked back would be a great help.

But I think I went over most of my views on shield usage in that topic. I'm too lazy to retype it though.

Not heavy or slowing at all. If used correctly with a sword, they can be a great increase in speed compared to a small shield.

i saw 2 level 70 sword fiona's in ...iukrul.....something the speed of the sword seemed to make a big difference vs my hammer.

Swords are far outclassed after that last patch...the damage they were outputting was due to their gear being higher than yours, not that they used a sword. Any BS they were spouting, you can feel safe to ignore.
Also, large shield has its uses in Boat 5, specifically on things like Madness and Irukul obviously. You can use small on a few bosses though, as someone above said, just watch the boss pattern and make the distinction. Not sure if a +5 Horn was really worth 400k though, Misery isn't THAT good...but then again 400k isn't all that much so you should be fine in the long run. Especially considering your next large shield will run upwards of 4m (at least that's what jirkals cost on East atm, don't think about Chiulin unless you're rolling in cash).

i had 400k laying around and figured....well...already upgraded and enchanted and its the best heavy shield i will be using for a long long time. also 6 tusks from my ivory hammer!
After my ivory hammer i will make a knights shield
Also, there was like 2-3 base horn shields on the board for over 700k this one was enchanted and upgraded and only 400.

just reread your first post and saw you asking for paladin point build. honestly, add into what you find or think will be more useful for you. eventually you should be able to max all the skills for your transformation. if you want to be more defensive, add into the health giving and defence giving skills. if you want to be more aggressive, add into any attack giving skills (i dont think pally has attack increasing skill). the skills that affect SP and other things work for both. look at how you want to play and prioritize the skills that lean more towards that play.

yup, the 11th point can go into 2nd trans regardless of what the other 10 are added into. do note that 2nd stage trans is an optional change, you have to be transed into 1st to go into second, 2nd takes 10 AP and ?2 bars of SP(need clarification)?, and it lasts 1 minute

After level 61, you can prettymuch choose any of the level 61 Plate Armors that you find the best looking.
My favorite would be the Chiulin, since it matches the Chiulin Longhammer and Large Shield I have.
Though, Half-Wing can be a /slight improvement in stats.
