After I come back from Hong Kong, and finish episode 8 on my fiona, I plan on being (or at least trying) a hardcore spear lann. It's kinda sad cause my Lann is named Love. Can you believe it? I actually got the ign :O Anyways, I don't want that name to go to waste.
Here are some questions I want to ask before starting (sorry im bombarding you guys with questions /lazytousesearch):
1.Can someone point me to some guides?
2.Should I go onto an Agi/Will, Str/Agi, or Str/Will path while choosing my armors? Any suggestions for sets besides BH/Swift? (Already got it on fiona, and don't wanna grind for it)
3.Do I need a spear that has insane attack speed?
4.Which smashes would I be using the most in a boss battle? What's the least?
5.Paladin or DK?
6.Damage or Critical more important?
7.Do spears have a more in-depth combat? Is height important (myself and the attacks of fomors)?
8.Is the skill that drains your HP a necessity? From what I've seen, I'm too scared to use it until I'm experienced in dodging the boss.
To conclude, I'm actually very excited to play as spears when I come back. *Pictures myself as raidhunter* HAH.

1. Can't really say, haven't found a good one.
2. BH/Swift would certainly be ideal just because it's all around a good set. 3 BH/2 Lorica would also be good since that's the highest DEF set currently (and I think it will be for quite awhile). If you really don't want to farm BH, you could go for something like Dark Crest/Lorica. I'd recommend a Lorica mix for the extra DEF and the bit of HP. AGI/WIL is usually a non-factor since the difference is usually within ~50 for optimal sets.
3. It most certainly helps. More attack speed means your glides go faster and have less delay, which is nice at higher levels. But a +8 Braid Tassel Spear or maybe Jagursh Bloodletter should suffice.
4. Really, LR and LLLLR are about your only real options for combo smashes against bosses. Maybe LLLR, but usually if you're looking for quick crits you go LR, and if you want non-Fury damage you go spinning. Other than that, you'll be sprint smashing a lot, either for a quick crit, or for dodging an attack. You'll also usually roll after the sprint smash either to try to get another hit, or to get even more distance to dodge after a sprint smash.
5. I would like to recommend Paladin for the survivability, but I honestly do not think that 750~1500 DEF on a Lann will do you much good. The DK's stamina boost from Aura will probably give you just as much survivability since you'll have a huge pool of stamina to be able to easily roll out of smashes without having to constantly sit back to keep 30 stamina in reserve, or constantly Fury Infusion to make sure you have lots of stamina.
6. If we're talking weapons, then the current *best* for spears are Braid Tassels. Jagursh are OK substitutes if you're cheap, and Chiulin are kinda iffy since they have -9 attack speed, although the rest of the stats are good. In general though, I'd say critical is more important for spears.
7. Supposedly shorter people actually do attack faster so I'd make my Lann short because of that. Unless you're really good though, the height of attacks won't matter too much and you'll just want to get away from them instead of trying to do an attack that lowers your hitbox.
8. Yes. It's pretty much the best Lann skill. You don't need to use it until later on but I would heavily suggest it later on, especially when you get rank 9 of it which lets you do it while moving.

I wish I was experienced with Vindictus enough to answer at least 1 of these questions.

@The bolded part. Don't Braid Tassel's have small range? My friend made some and ended up selling them because he complained about them having such small range that he had to literally be on TOP of the boss to use Hurricane. Everything else is well said and explained.

Oh yeah, I forgot about range. I've heard that as far as range goes, Chiulin and Jagursh are just about equal, and Braid Tassels are the shortest of the three.
I don't have any experience with the different ranges since my Lann is still using Jagursh.

Thank you so much! Since there isn't much options, I guess BH/swift is really the best thing to go for =/ .
Although I'm debating weather I should go with tall Lann + Tassels or short lann + jagursh (or another longer spear)

I thought the Braid Tassel Spear range was buffed.
Anyway, if you're going to main a Spear Lann then Paladin is probably the best for you. It gives great survivability (You can get around 7k+ defence which is incredibly helpful in the later raids), thereby granting you longevity in the battle. The extra stamina, as a DK, is not necessarily needed since you'll have Fury Infusion anyway to restore your stamina.
Crits are important to Spear Lanns but if I had to choose then I'd choose the Braids over Chiulin-- -12 atk speed hurts alot more than -4 crit. Besides, we already have Fury Infusion and it gives us +22 crit.

All the choices you make as spear lann (like any other character) are personal preference. You'll probably have to try both spears to see which length you like best. I figure though, some actual opinions would be more helpful than what I just said.
-Personally, I prefer long spears so that I can abuse the incredibly high front and back range on Moon Splitter and 3960 Hurricane.
-Transformations are completely up to you, but I prefer paladin, going with the whole "Dead lann does 0 dps" motto. More important than the DEF increase with paladin is the stage 2 skill, conviction, which shields you and gives you the ability to spin 2 win, as long as you use it correctly to dodge the majority of boss attacks.
-Chiulins are hated on a lot, but it is simply trading out attack speed for more damage, like many other weapon choices in the game.
-I don't know about height, but I've heard a Korean player (name of lagerowonder on youtube) regretted choosing short lann. I went with the middle ground on this one. His channel has a lot of spear lann videos, so you can study those for help.
-Agility increases gliding fury and smash damage by 1% every 47 and 40, respectively, according to the wiki. Meanwhile, willpower gives you 1.6% crit every 100 WIL. In the end, strength is your main stat, but agility and willpower are something to consider when comparing armor sets.
