If humans survive long enough to perfect interstellar travel, we will spread like a plague among the stars and probably never die out entirely.
Imagine what we would do to other civilizations out there if there are any? I'd imagine it wouldn't be too different than what happened to south america, north america or africa when the "white man" found them. Only with lasers and space ships instead of horses and spears.
this. humans breed like cockroaches, and are just as annoying to get rid of.

I'm looking forward to a zombie apocalypse.

Meh too easy. Humans can find ways to avoid zombie, get rid of them and probably find a way to use them as an energy suply (zombies walking in giant wheels)

Until some PETA type group complains that it's cruelty. Rofl

You are wrong. It won't be PETA that complains about it's cruelty. It will be PETZ.

Unless they were more advanced than us.

Doesn't necessarily have to be so.
Remember, the British Empire was defeated by Zulus.

We would probably try anyways.

There is something that humans can't possibly defeat though..
Swarms of insects, bacteria, virus'
We can combat them and survive them and so far we have been doing a good job. But someday, Virus' and Bacteria might become more advanced and we could find us unable to fight them off and next thing you know, it begins wiping us out one by one by one.

that's an interesting idea
but humans have been able to manipulate all of those things to our advantage through things like genetic engineering (so I really doubt it)
our only real "evolutionary path" left is in
our diet, brain, etc

We still haven't defeated AIDS, Ebola, and a number of other nasty virus' that cause lots of human deaths. There's also a lot more antibiotic resistant bacteria out there due to misuse of medicine.
So don't shrug off us beating them yet. The battle is far from over I assure you.

But we've made progress towards defeating them, which hinders those diseases (and the viruses/bacteria which cause 'em) from "wiping" us, as you say.
If order for a virus to kill us off, it'd have to be very contagious and very deadly. And even then, it can only possibly kill 99.99...% (never 100%) of all human population, since there
would be people who would be naturally resistant to it, which would still leave (hundreds of) thousands of people left on the planet.

This is also true. It would be hard to recover from such a devastating blow mind you. At least if it's nothing like a zombie Apocalypse I think we should be fine for the most part.

Abstinence and containment seems to be working out so far. There's still 7 billion of us, so there's bound to be someone resistant to an outbreak.

Knowing humanity.. yeah, I doubt that.
The military would probably want to study them and being the idiots that they generally are, it would go horribly wrong.
Ex: L4D. The military in L4D is realistic as hell.
real zombies are nowhere nearly as strong as left 4 dead zombies
