This is something that was brought to my attention by an old friend, and while not many people seem to know about it, it's the best thing in the world for anyone ranking up life skills!
If you own a house, buy a cheap brownie-for-hire for 10k (either weaving or refining, it doesn't matter). (You'll need to have service to access it later).
You'll see there are 6 big slots to store materials in. This can be just about any life skill material that stacks - ingots, herbs, leathers, braids, use your imagination. Each slot will stack to 100, so you can carry 600 items in this. You can put items in the slots as long as the time hasn't expired, but you can take them out at anytime.
The great part is that the brownie contract can be stored in your bank! So, you've gone using 600 items worth of bank space into a convenient 1x2 slot. Just be careful not to hit the "Dump" button, as it does not dump items into your inventory but, rather, destroys them.
Happy life-skilling!

You can also use mailboxes.
Send an item to an alternate account, don't pick it up... it will stay there till you grab it back.

only issue being after a set amount of time of not retrieving it, it will send back to you

I don't see the issue with this?
It just means you don't have to switch accounts to your alt to take it back.
It doesn't put it back in your inventory, it still sits in your mailbox.

Not everyone likes to see their mailbox filled with storage items.

Wouldn't this mean that after enough time, you'd get your inbox filled with returned stuff and then no one could mail you stuff?
It sure is handy until that point, though.

Oh yeah, Didn't think of that.
I suppose that would eventually happen..
Short term storage maybe?

Even after the 30 day holding period is over and you don't have any inventory space on your character when you go to recall it, it'll go to your temporary inventory. Then you can just send the item to whatever alt again for an additional 30 days.

However, with this method, you can forget about the items. lol

Mailbox doesn't really work with life skill items such as braids, thick threads, thin threads, leathers etc. For example, you can only mail 59x5= 295 braids. This method you can store 600 braids in a 1x2 spot. I'd rather use the mailbox for other useless space hogs like dustin armors, melkas, etc.

This is great to know now I can not have a full inventory + bank filled with the most random crap.
