Any metallurgy tips?

So I've made an elf mainly for metallurgy. Should I rank up metallurgy then prod or the other way around. I'm fairly new to metallurgy so if you guys have any tips, please share!~ :D

If this elf is used for metallurgy, and if you have enough AP, Try ranking both of them together.
Most people hold off on Production Mastery, because they need to have a low percentage of success for Refining fails.

Otherwise, Production Mastery increases the success rate of Metallurgy so you should definitely rank it up.
Looking at the wiki and as a result of my personal experience, I would suggest:

1. Go to the Quillia Base Camp. Buy a sieve from Effie. Go to the beach.

2. Work on Metallurgy (Don't forget to equip a blessed sieve via using holy water)
Metallurgy will give points in Prod. towards collecting using a skill.

2. When you have to repair your sieve, go shear some sheep and do the green dude's (Can't even spell name) PTJ.
You will get Holy Water, which can sell for quite a bit depending on your server and its necessary to bless equipment.
I would keep 2-3 stacks of Holy Water on me, depending on how often you fight or die.
Production Mastery will also be trained, since you are getting materials without using a skill.

3. Go back and do Metallurgy at the beach.

So here is a theoretical example:
At 6:00 AM go to the beach and work on Metallurgy.
Finish working on Metallurgy at 3:30 pm, then go to the green dude to get his PTJ.
If you already have 10 sheep wool turn them in, if not got outside the camp and shear 10 of them from the sheep.
You'll have 5 in-game hours to do this, more than enough time.
After you turn in the PTJ, go back to the Beach.
Rinse and repeat.

Don't forget to rank any of the two skills when you are able to.

I wouldn't bless the sieves 'cause 1 holy water is more expensive than 1 sieve on this server :S
Rain and Monday/Wednesday also increase the sucess rate.
Gold sparkles (Appear only when its raining) also have a higher chance of getting copper, gold, mythril.
but yea do what Episkey said except maybe using holy water on sieves you should check holy water prices first :P

-Rank 9 Lurgy gives a chance of x2 ores (later x3 but still capped)
Also I prefer the beach north of Cor, theres less bots and the shiny spots are packed closer

Not really... HW at max is sold for 2k each on Tarlach, and Sieves are 3k each.
Plus, HW is 1x1, while sieves are 2x2, making the HW much easier to carry around
Plus, who wants to head alllllll the way back to the camp just to repair? Saves you a hell-of-a-lot of time just blessing it.

Tip for the actual TS:
1) Bless your Sieves
2) Carry around 3 or 4 sieves if you can manage an empty inventory (no potions and crap. It'll be a good idea to carry around a 50k bag though)
3) Work on Production Mastery AND Metallurgy at the same time; gain a decent number of levels and exploration level for the AP.
4) go to Cor Beach, since Qilla Beach has scattered 'sparkles' and The waterfall is only good for getting the gems. Other places are just too far away from towns
