I'm having a hard time deciding whether to stay Paladin (R9, would have been R8 or R7, but I forgot to rank for several levels :(), or switching to Dark Knight (Just need to do G3 final, which I'm doing this afternoon with my friend).
Reason I'm having a hard time deciding is I'm intending to be all-around, but currently am focused mostly on Melee. I'm intending on working on getting my dex up more (My refine is R3, and will be R1 tomorrow night at the latest, and I have most of the materials for Weaving -I hope-). I'm also going to be ranking Lightning Bolt, Magic Mastery, and than finally Thunder (Using premium rebirths to do this quickly).
I'm wondering whether I should stay Paladin, or get Dark Knight, and rank it as much as possible (I can probably get R1 by the time I most of my magic ranks done).

If you're mostly melee at the moment stay paladin.
Only switch to dark knight when MOST of your magic is ranked.

Some people still stay Champion. Because of the steady stat boost. I would say it depends on your playing style.
The highest ranked person on TW is a champion I believe. :D

Paladin has better damage for Melee and Ranged 66% of the time. The other 33% DK beats them by a whopping 3-6ish max damage. (However Dark Knights have HORRID min damage compared to Paladins, which means less stable damage numbers)
I have calculated this because Paladins get Sword of Order which boosts min and max damage

Ah here it is... I typed this out when i was very anti DK. Still am.
After HEAVY Calculation with Sword of Order and Dark Knight skills i have come to this conclusion
Proper Dex roll and a DK can get a higher damage with Archery but ONLY by 10 Max Damage But Pally edges out with the min damage by 14 (makes more balanced archery)
Proper Str roll and a DK can get a higher damage with Melee but ONLY by 10 Max Damage... again but pally has the edge on min damage by 1 point (lol)
Keep in Mind you lose Min damage when you are a DK (no Sword of Order)
and INT: zzzzz need i say more?
therefore im keeping my defense and protection by sticking to Champion
Furthermore during Pally Vs DK PvP....
Paladin's 15 defense and 6 protection destroy's that 10 max damage boost they get... at least it's my opinion anyway
My strategy in PvE is your Offense is your best Defense
Feel free to correct any calculations i might have done wrong...
Also I made this while not calculating Critical or any of that... and on that note on the guru i got derepped for making that post.

Dark Knight is better for endgame. The reason is endgame you just use whatever skills your stats roll for maximum effect. Int roll? go mage. Dex Roll?? Go Range. Str Roll go melee. Paladin is better for low-midgame melee based characters. One of the main reasons is incredible mana shield and magic bonuses. Not to mention Blaze damage.
Also PING is more important in Duels/pvp than the bonus damage paladins get. Darknight gets better PING.
Crit is also more important in Duels/pvp than some damage. Darknights get more crit.

Even so... Int rolls are pretty useless IMO, because of the fact that damage from int is logarithmic, while damage from range and melee is linear. I do however, agree with you that Infra is recommended for end game =P

Well unless you have 600 int full blaze damage cannot be realized. IMO Blaze is best skill in game. getting a INT roll when your normal int is lower than 600 can give you a few k damage boost on blaze at high levels.
Blaze Skill makes INT worth it.

Int Rolls are good for the critical rate.
As for PvP between Paladin vs DK, DK would have more advantage if they use their PD combined with their higher Mana Pool. However, if several people team up on one person, it won't matter much.

Pot poison and HP100s prolong transformation too, on Tarlach, a lot of people run full dungeons in DK with this method, also the 600 - 1k+ hp that DKs makes them better for tanking, not to mention the mp for mana shield.

I had made a side by side comparison post, taking into account only DK and Paly skills, ignoring the player itself completely. But that was on guru and I got Itchy to delete all my posts. I think I'll do it again out of boredom.

First of all, switching styles just because your stats rolled a certain way is entirely impractical. I've never, ever, ever switched fighting styles because of a trans roll. It's too big of an interruption in the flow of combat.
Blaze can't be argued with.
Passive defenses, meh. Doesn't matter how much you're pinging if you're only getting hit for 1's. It works both ways.
I still stand by my position that DK is for endgamers only and shouldn't be touched by anyone who isn't high-ranked in all skill sets.

perma dk (using potions to stay in dk) is an awesome reason to go dk :D. dk also have better tanking ability, but that was already mentioned.

I went DK because I'm hybrid in all areas. Though at the moment, currently focusing on DEX.
Idk, if you're starting out stay Pally, if you're eh so-so experienced/want a bigger INT roll DK.
