When downloading the newest patch, I somehow acquired the "Win32/Virut" virus. My Anti-Virus software went nuts when I was downloading the patch, and I thought since sometimes anti-virus things conflict with games, I disabled it.. well... then I kept getting the "Error Code -30" when trying to start up Vinds, so I checked the files and sure enough, its a legit virus. It completely corrupted the game and I am currently *trying* to remove it. Its located in C:/Nexon/Vindictus/en-US/Vindictus.exe and so far I haven't found any branches of it. Just curious if anyone else has had such an...annoying.. issue? :o

Are you sure it's a virus?
What's your anti-virus?

I googled the name of it.. and it was apparently a virus.. I am using AVG and it never gave me an issue before with any other patch.. I uninstalled the game and removed the virus and ran a scan just to be sure... reinstalled and the game is running fine now :)

Just because it is a legit virus doesn't mean that it is present. It can be a false alarm, and the corruption of the game files may be from your antivirus program. I have gotten the same virus report from my AVG and I tried reinstalling, but got the same sort of virus report from reinstallation. I'm going to just wait a while, uninstall, and reinstall later when hopefully they've fixed compatability or they have removed any infection. I'm not taking the risk, and I'm pretty sure vindictus doesn't have a dedicated security team.

It's official. On the Vindictus site they have addressed the problem as being a compatibility issue and are currently "working on it." Should be safe, just follow the instructions they give to make vindictus an exception to the virus rule, or simply ignore it.
