[/SPOILER]It does get better and then it gets funny at the end.
The way I look at it, in 5 and a half episodes everything has been predictable, everything, Light and L are both evil psychopaths who dont care about human lives and are willing to kill people, and both of them just want to win...The other characters so far, the fbi and police, have had no character development really and are just there trying to do their jobs...I mean, every character does stuff thats so expected...
But Im not gonna give up...Ill watch a show about 2 psychopaths and hope it gets interesting at some point...
Lolwut? L is evil and doesn't care about human lives?
???????????????

On a slightly related note,

I'll take a potato chip.... AND EAT IT!
In 5 episodes he caused the death of 13 people.
And just incase you deny that let me ask a follow up question...
Is L supposed to be an amazing detective who realizes things before the police, which is why they turn to him, and is in part, such a great detective because he waits until he has evidence, he doesnt just make conclusions and hunches?
It's not just realizing things before the police. There is also the fact that he is an amazing strategist. You'll see later on that L can really **** with Light's head. L understands the criminals and predict what they can do next.
In 5 episodes he caused the death of 13 people.
L?
He had ONE person act as bait and got him killed. That person was on death row and was scheduled to die that day anyways.
Other than that I don't think there are any.
The fbi agents he didnt warn about the name thing, even though he was the one making them be there in the first place...Just because when the police mentioned names, he acted like it was old news, but he doesnt work on things with just hunches, so because of that, he didnt warn them, but now that they are dead, he had no problem telling the police about it, because he had evidence to reach a conclusion, if you are putting peoples lifes in danger, you tell them if you have a hunch about how they could be killed.
And the death penalty Im not gonna argue about, but the fact is, besides the justice system part, isnt the execution supposed to be "Humane" Is a heart attack on television anything like what the supposed criminal was supposed to be receiving?
He didn't send the FBI. They were separate from L.
And L didn't expect Light to be able to kill him just like that. Up until the point where the criminal was killed on TV, L didn't have any expectations of supernatural abilities, and only put the possibility of the ability to kill with only a name and a face in the corner of his mind.
And this is just my personal input, but death by heart attack isn't much worse than death by liquid injection or electric chair.
Light creates a plan but is careful not to arouse the suspicion of the tracker, who is really a Federal Agent from the United States named Raye Penber, employed by L and Watari.
Didnt L make the FBI investigate the police task force?
The FBI were sent by Americans to investigate. L is British.
And L's discovery of Light's ability to kill with only a name and a face was broadcasted on television. You'd have to be pretty awful at your job if you're an FBI agent who was sent to Japan to investigate the Kira case, and you completely missed something that became public knowledge.
Yes...I know the fbi were Americans...And yes, L is British, but L employed them to investigate the police in the beginning...In episode 3 L requests info on how the victims had been publicized, so if hes so amazing a detective, he would have noticed that the names that were released and correct were the victims..In episode 3, L begins to think someone who knows the police is Kira, so he sends the fbi to investigate. In episode 4 Light makes the plan to get the agents name, or as Light knows him just his stalkers name (who is only there because L suspects someone close to the police.) which by this point L should have told him not to give out. Then in episode 5 all 12 FBI agents die, the police task force talks to L and a small group of them begin to work with L. In episode 6 while they meet L one of them mentions the pattern with the criminals name, L says he knew that, but that means they didnt know he knew that, so he hadnt warned them. Therefore, he doesnt care about risking peoples lives.
I mean, it is mentioned so many times that the FBI are investigating Light/the Japanese police due to Ls suspicions that I dont know how you could deny that...
