Yup
it definitely feels like a Mario game
Piranha plants in a meadow of grass
blocks moving in and out of walls
It's going back to the roots of Mario 64
Super Mario Sunshine didn't really make the cat think of mario much
as most of the time you're using FLUDD
then again,
the cat is merely just watching the first level.
It is like a 3d mario game
you have a "lobby" for selecting levels.
Maybe Mario can be "open world" like Zelda or Metroid.

Super Mario Galaxy also had a Lobby.
Except it was puny.

Not that using FLUDD didn't make the game good, right?
It just wasn't "mario" enough.

Right
FLUDD wasn't a bad idea
but it just wasnt mario enough
The Mario platforming sections were like 10% of the gameplay
and they werent that good from memory

FLUDD was cool enough, but the platforming was bogus and that's the core of a Mario game. I was overjoyed when they took FLUDD off for a few segments...but the problem with those segments is you're SO accustomed to having FLUDD there to assist your jumps that you screw up horribly. It's all or nothing.

FLUDD was a really fun tool to use but the whole game ended up revolving around using it for gameplay.
FLUDD was also sort of a handicap, if you were about to fall or couldn't perform an easy jump you could just use the hover nozzle to get there.
I'm not hardcore so I sort of liked it, but then I would fail every mission w/o FLUDD :[
Then games like Galaxy give you so many fun suits to use, it's a lot more interesting.
