Just put some meat on it and turn it after a few minutes.
If you're feeling insecure about it go check how it looks like on the inside with a knife and then decide if that's good for you.
The same procedure works for corn and anything else really. Without the cutting obviously.

You don't even have to turn it, if it has the press from the top. Stick a bun in the toaster, stick some meat in the grill, and put the greasecatch down somewhere beneath it. Easypeasy.

Turning it over at least once (I turn it over multiple times) will allow the meat to cook much more evenly. But yeah, the downside is it requires close supervision after several minutes of cooking to get it just right. As time goes on, the grill will start to have trouble cooking evenly and this will be even more important, should you not wish to replace it.

Basically.
It's like a microwave, just that it's a grill.

Eeeeeh, we've got grills too in Germany...
They're not BBQ grills though, they're generally open.

Grill chicken with it (no joke). Fish... Is tricky since you have to wrap it in foil so it doesn't stick but give it a shot if you dare. There's always the good ol' steak with salt and pepper too!

Boneless chicken breast. BBQ sauce drizzled.
Cheese on top. Then place a pineapple on top of that.
Hawaiian bbq chicken. Grilled pineapples are so good.
