Guide
Many skills, like Ranged Attack, Windmill, practically every master title, require the deaths of many monsters of varying power levels (Strong, Awful, Boss), and though everyone tells you to keep your Combat Power down, practically no one will offer advice on where to capitalize on your CP and make master titles and windmill ranks that much easier to get.
First:
What is CP [Combat Power]?
Combat Power is the sum of a large number of statistics and numbers based on any character, and is a gauge to measure how "powerful" the character is. A character can be a player's character, monster, pet; essentially anything capable of combat. The game compares your character's own CP to that of a monster, and depending on the ratio the game will assign a label to the monster ranging from Weakest to Boss.
To figure out your combat power, use Osayidan's CP Calculator. Credits to Osayidan.
If your combat power is...
500~600
Strongs - Math Normal; CP < 588. The best place for strongs. Period.
Awfuls - Longa Amethyst/Topaz/Emerald; CP < 650. The best place for awfuls as well. You can earn like 15 passes from a Longa Normal if you skip the ending boss, and the monsters are weak and not much of a threat while giving nice chunks of EXP.
600~700
Strongs - Longa Amethyst/Topaz/Emerald; 650 < CP < 857. Aw, Math Normal became Normals? If you're at the end of your life, try rebirthing to lower your CP. However, if you're truly past Math Normal, make use of Longa! It will stay the best place for Strongs for quite a while. Longa is best when your CP is right around 700. If your CP is below 700, some monsters may appear Awful.
Runda Normal and Basic are good alternatives, though Basic may be too challenging, and Knolls will definitely be above Strong for you.
Awfuls - Rabbie Basic [or Albey Red Gem]; CP < 729. Make some money too.
Bosses - Zombies in TNN; CP < 697.
700~800
Strongs - Longa Amethyst/Topaz/Emerald; CP < 857. You should be able to run this dungeon pretty fast now, though Stone Masks will have gone to normal. However, if you're looking for alternatives, Runda Normal/Basic are available.
Awfuls - Ciar Advanced; CP < 818. Or Zombies, CP < 1045, if you can't handle Ciar Advanced.
Bosses - Uh. Baol Final? Mostly Peaca, the more challenging field bosses, and dungeon bosses are bosses now.
800~900
Strongs - Longa Amethsyt/Topaz/Emerald; CP < 928. This may be hard to believe, but some monsters in Longa Amethsyt/Topaz/Emerald will still be strong to you.
Ciar Advanced; CP > 928. Also, Rabbie Basic, CP > 908.
Awfuls - Zombies, CP < 1045.
Bosses - Alby Advanced.
900~1000
Strongs - Longa Amethsyt/Topaz/Emerald; CP < 928. This may be hard to believe, but some monsters in Longa Amethsyt/Topaz/Emerald will still be strong to you.
Ciar Advanced; CP > 928. Also, Rabbie Basic, CP > 908.
Awfuls - Zombies; CP < 1045.
Bosses - Alby Advanced.
1000+
Strongs - Rabbie Basic; CP < 1041. Ciar Advanced; CP < 1140. Zombies; CP > 1045.
Awfuls - Baol Final, ish.
Bosses - Alby Advanced.
[color="Red"]Don't forget to use -CP enchants, tendering pots, and zombies to help skill prof. Once your CP becomes incredibly high, it's generally much more efficient to lower your CP rather than try to skill prof at difficult places.
4/13/10 Quick Add-On: I wrote this guide a loong time ago. Since then, both Hardmode dungeons and Shadow Missions have come out. The higher difficulty dungeons provide ridiculously high CP monsters which are useful for moderately high total level or CP players to train skills, reducing the need of -CP equips. If you have a high total level (too high for this guide), consider those options.
Hopefully this will prove useful to the community. Special thanks to Osayidan for your CP calculators.
