A police spokesman said the shooting began after two uniformed officers conducted a fair inspection on a Municipal light rail vehicle. They detained the man on the platform, but he fled on foot. During the foot pursuit, police said the suspect fired at the officers, and the officers fired back.
Witnesses had a different story and said police overreacted.

Giving Guns to people (even if they are proclaimed to be police officers) is never a good idea..

This is actually quite terrifying.. Whether the police officers/witnesses felt that the shooting was justified or not, there are different alternatives and approaches. The confusion of nearby witnesses only heightened the scene.

He murdered a pregnant girl, was on parole, had a gun, shot at the police, and was running.
They had every right to shoot him.

He was only considered a suspect for the murder of the pregnant woman, so it's possible that he was innocent. There was, however, another incident. According to the Global Grind news site;
"Harding, then 18, was initially charged with second degree rape of a child as well as attempted promoting prostitution, following allegations that he had sex with the 13-year-old whom he delivered to the Seattle Center area on Jan. 7, 2010."
According to witness sources, the man fled from the police without any sign of pulling out a firearm, whereas the police are saying that Harding shot at them first which was what led to provocation. When witnesses pressured the police to show them Harding's gun, the chants were simply ignored. What I find most distasteful is how the police watched him lie there in his own pool of blood. They held no concern for his wounds or loss of blood (and the side-effects that come with it). His past crimes don't give the police ANY reason to shoot at him if he had not fired first.
Until there is video confirmation or other valid proof that he fired first, my justification remains as it is.

While the police had every right to defend themselves, I still find it odd that he was detained over the $2 fare. Why not just prohibit him from going onto the bus and be done with it?

I don't care about what happened to that guy or the story behind it but I love the reaction of the crowd. Doesn't matter what the news articles say, the people have no more trust in the government and it's painfully obvious right there.

Well.. they're all black. They never were fans of police to begin with. >_> And apparently people there tried to hide the suspect's gun before police found it.
It's unfortunate that the suspect died, however.

If these previous convictions are true then he deserved to drown in that pool of blood.

There's actually a video of the gun being on the ground near the guy that got shot and you can see some guy in a grey striped hoodie picking it up and disappearing into the crowd.

The thing I never liked about most police is how they handle these types of things.
I've read so many stories in which they shot (and killed) a suspect while they were trying to run away and didn't even bother aiming for a limb.
Like, really guys? Is it that hard to aim for the knee cap or leg (which would incapacitate them) instead of killing them?
Ah, well.. I presume they ignore that obvious fact because OMG THEY COULD KILL A COP OMG NOT THE COPS.
