with around 15 close friends and family members
you're at sea for 3 days when a storm hits and your boat's hull breaks open
you all have no other choice but to abandon ship and swim to the nearest island.. seems okay surely there is locals you can get to call for rescue
you walk up on the beach and see footprints in the sand
you and 4 other friends follow them while the rest stay on the beach
you soon are peeking into a small village but you see them sacrificing and devouring another human
do you
1.
a) quickly and quietly run away and warn the others
b) try to befriend them/join them
c) other
2.
if a): what do you do from there to survive and hide
if b): what would you do to persuade them, what if you don't speak their language, what if something goes wrong?
3.
What long term tactics would you use to keep alive, how would you search for food and, signal for help, while protecting yourself from all of the dangers on this island (animals, cannibals, insects, terrain, ect)
note: all of this is completely hypothetical
it's not a matter if you would or wouldn't ever be in that situation, it's just if you were
what would you do?
ALL OF YOUR LUGGAGE IS GONE
and very few of you even have shoes
extra details:
The weather on the island is tropical and very hot and humid
it rains daily sometimes several times a day
behind the beach is dense jungle but the island isn't incredibly large
if you follow the beach it turns rocky and dangerous
the water is filled with tropical fish but also poisonous ones as well and many of you don't have the knowledge to tell the difference between what you can and can't eat
you have no idea where you are

1: A
2. Appraise the 15 others of the situation and swiftly begin constructing crude weaponry. Taking out 15 armed and determined people is no small feat, even for cannibals.
However, the best course of action would be to vacate said island. If there is another island close by, traveling there would be optimal. Otherwise, travel as far away from said cannibals as possible for the time being.
3. First step would be to to set up a watch, to find a very defensible location such as a rocky cliff face or something with a cave in it or something, that would be difficult to assault. People would be sent out, never alone, to search for food. Catching fish would be the highest priority as it would be the least dangerous, as opposed to traveling further inward. And obviously if you came from a fishing boat, having fishing gear would be more likely than not.
Once that is taken care of and established, I would begin constructing a large S.O.S. and buliding a large pyre that could be seen for miles away and from the sky.
Of course, the optimal solution would have been to send a mayday while still on the boat and activate and ensure to bring along the distress beacon with you, as well as the emergency gear. You would be found rather quickly in this scenario.
It is, in the case of traveling, always the best foresight and preparedness that makes all the difference in the end. I don't make such traveling ventures without contingencies. I value my own life too much for that.

Well sending distress signals at sea during storms can be difficult, but yes it is always good to be prepared, but whoever dragged you on the boat in the first place should have known better than going out into the open ocean in a ragged fishing boat DX

Your new conditions are illogical. @_@
If I had to abandon ship, I would grab certain things. Getting into a situation with nothing, even without shoes, that would just be pure carelessness and anyone who allowed that to happen to them without having the forethought to grab useful things would deserve such a fate as is prescribed to them by chance.
I'm a bit... obsessive compulsive. xD I don't do things half-assed. I'm always well prepared for whatever it is I do.

maybe I should have

I probably should have been a bit more specific
Well when I said the hull was breaking open I meant it was sinking quickly so you have to be quick and swim away from the boat unless you want to be sucked down and when people pack for a cruise they pack with flipflops, sandals and stuff not for a long fishing boat ride which swimming and carrying lot of supplies would be difficult

Well... my "family" wouldn't be caught dead on an "old fishing boat."
If I'm vain, they're like... the embodiments of vanity.
...freakin' nobility.

Well, I found a great survival guide for your time on the cannibal island. I hope it helps:
