Eh, Eeeeeeeeeeh. Maybe. Or maybe just have faith in the staff? haha.
I sometimes PM reporters if what they reported is actually ok, and the reporter just seems to have misunderstood one of our rules.
But I do like how some forums automatically add a note below a post and says "This user has been warned for this" or something, it lets the community know that that's not ok, and etc.
This kind of implies that us wanting to know things means we don't have faith in the staff? I'm pretty sure you didn't mean that, but still, this isn't about faith. It's about us knowing what happened after we hit that button, why, and how to respond to that. It also stops people from making the wrong assumptions, because, let's face it, that's bound to happen.

Seriously though. Personally sending each and every one of you a detailed follow-up on what actions we took just adds to our workload unnecessarily.
Rest assured, we check all reports and if action was necessary, action was taken. Generally this is done privately with the individuals involved. (Which generally isn't the reporter.)
It doesn't have to be that long, either. Messages I've seen tend to be "Issue has been addressed" or "No action was taken because it doesn't break the rules. I was thinking something automated, like what deviantART does. I haven't reported something in a while, though, so I can't show what that looks like.
Let's say it wasn't automated, though. Are there that many reports that a short message would be so much of a problem?
I guess, though, if a user really cares about the report, they can PM someone about it and see what happened, although knowing how the report system works in the staff forums, it's not easy to tell who's handling what from the outside.
