  How to start Mabinogi…the right way.
  
  Since new people are kinda lost at times I thought I would write this guide which gives a good starting knowledge to anyone who is new to the game.
  
  Mabinogi is truly unique in its setup which includes the ability to “be anything you want to be!”!
  While this is true it also creates a problem that other MMORPG’s do not have. What’s the best for me? Before we take that on lets discuss a few other quick things.
  
  Mabinogi can be played casually or it can be played heavily. The choice is up to you and whichever you choose you can find happiness in the land of Erin. This guide is written to make the first part of your journey more profitable and to increase your enjoyment.
  
  Mabinogi is generally like all MMO’s where the grinders get ahead. You don’t have to grind but being good at some repetitive tasks will make getting stronger, faster. That being said, the first 5-10 days of your mabi-life can be exciting and overwhelming. Read the following to get a head start.

  Mabinogi’s skill system is based on Ability Points, skill training, and rebirths. In order to rank skills to make your character more powerful you need to obtain Ability points (which from now on will be referred to as AP). Ability points can be gained in 4 ways.
  
  1. Experience leveling
  2. Exploration Leveling
  3. Aging
  4. Specific quests that give ability points.
  
  You gain experience by killing monsters, completing quests, finishing shadow missions, and making items with lifeskills. There is no level cap (that is known) for normal experience. Leveling up at first is easy but it progressively gets harder and harder. Mabinogi has a unique system to deal with this. Its call a rebirth. Every 6 days or at age 20 you have the option of rebirthing. If you want to rebirth every 6 days you must purchase a character card. I'll describe these in greater detail later. You can rebirth for free anytime your characters hit age 20.
  
  Additionally nexon has implimented a free daily rebirth system to help newer players get caught up some. You can rebirth every 24 hours until level 99 and explore 99. Once you hit 100 on either of theses stats you must go to the above mentioned methods of rebirth. I have detailed the best way to use this system below.

  You gain exploration from completing questions, from sketching, from exploring with an L-Rod, from turning in artifacts to Voight in Couracle (guide to exploration is linked farther down). Exploration is capped at 25 per rebirth.

  Skills get stronger/more efficient by gaining ranks, which are labeled as:
  Novice: usually too weak to use.
  Lettered ranks : F, E, D, C, B, A
  Numbered ranks: 9,8,7,6,5,4,3,2,1

  Certain stats make combat skills stronger in power.
  
  Strength improves Melee Combat skills
  10 strength = 4 maximum damage and 3 minimum damage for melee.
  
  
  Dexterity Improves range skills (with the exception of giants range skill which is improved by strength)
  10 Dexterity = 4 maximum damage and 3 minimum damage for range
  
  
  Intelligence improves magical combat skills and some magical passive skills
  20 intelligence = 1% improvement to magical damage.
  
  The will stat improves fighter combat skills.
  10 will = 3 max and 1 min when wearing knuckles.
  
  The will and luck stats increase your critical hit percentage. Critical hits become more and more important as the game progresses into harder levels of play.
  10 will = 1% increase in critical hit
  10 luck = 2% increase in critical hit
  
  
  There are passive stats like Health points (HP), Stamina points (SP), Mana Points (MP), Defense, Protection.
  The following 3 have a bar with a number beside it located at the bottom of your mabinogi screen.
  Your Health points are the amount of damage you can take before you die. (red bar)
  Your Stamina points indicate how often you can use skills (some skills use stamina points others don’t, yellow bar)
  Your Mana points indicate how much mana is available to cast a magic spell (some skills outside magic also use MP)
  Your stats can also affected by several other factors:
  1. Race and Age(Human, Giant, Elf)
  2. Current Explore level and Experience level + age
  3. Titles
  4. Food

  5. Enchants - Each piece of equipment can have a prefix enchant and a suffix enchant. To learn more about the enchanting skill(and you will) please read this guide.

  Ok so you've read this guide and you now feel like your ready so...what to do first?
  
  Day 1: Character Creation
  
  Decide on whether you want to be a boy character, a G.I.R.L character, or a girl character. Girls get all the clothing and giants get gipped on about everything fasion wise. Your first 7 days of rebirths should be at age 17. The reason for this is if you decide not to purchase rebirths every week you will be forced to wait until the character is 20 after the daily rebirths are done. Your first Character needs to be a human for the reasons I explained at the beginning of this guide.

  The first person you will encounter is Ffion. She has 4 beginner quests that you should do to get familiar with the exploration system.
  
  Just to the west of quila base camp is a mana tunnel if it is daylight hours (between 6AM and 6PM) in game go and click on the tunnel. That "saves" the tunnel and you'll be able to use it in the future.

  My recommendation is to gather up all of the mana tunnels located on the map (check the wiki for this map). If your lucky and find someone helpful at the quila tunnel who can take you to the major axis points (Quila, Filia, Vales, Couracle, Calida). The most important ones to get first are Vales and Filia as our next stop is their.
  
  So which would you like first? A giant assistant or an elf assistant character?

  From the Vales or Filia mana tunnel make your way to the Elf leader (Castenea) or the Giant Leader (Krug).
  
  After greeting them they will give you a keyword called "elves and giants". Talk to them again and use the keyword "elves and giants". Select that you will support one or the other and they will give you a free assistant character card for thier race.
  
  Talk to the leader one more time and...break your alliance with that race by using the same keyword again(because you need to in order to get the other races free assistant card). You have to wait till the next real life day to change alliances and get the other assistant card. Each mabinogi day resets at 7:00 AM server time (pacific timezone).
  
  Your next assignment of day 1 is to make your way to couracle and see Voight. Use this great guide to read about exploring for artifacts in couracle. DON"T SKIP THIS as you will be doing it everyday for 7 days.

  Your goal for day 1 is to get to level 10 and to level 10 explore. You can get to level 10 by doing just a couple beginner quests in quila.
  You can get to level 10 explore by following the guide above. Resist the urge to level more. Getting to level 20 is easy. Getting to level 20 explore...takes a decent grind and your not ready for this yet. AGAIN DO NOT GO ABOVE THESE LEVELS OR YOU WILL HAVE TO ADJUST THINGS LATER.
  
  Log off your human and create your assistant character.
  
  Grab all of the mana tunnels and repeat the leveling steps. 10 levels/10 explore.

  Day 2: Assistant Character # 2
  
  Log into your human and make your way to the town of the race you have not created yet. Use the "giants and elves" keyword and align yourself with them to get your second assistant character card. Go ahead and create that character. Congratulations you now have 3 characters. Nexon also gives you a free horse. Now is the right time to create that horse so that you can get around with all 3 characters easily.
  
  Grab all of the mana tunnels go to couracle and get level 10 explore. Again use beginner quests to get to normal level 10.
  
  When the 24 hour time has come up its time to rebirth your human and the first assistant character.
  
  Today you are going to level them to 12 explore and 12 regular levels. If you run out of easy beginner quests go to quila and kill young white mongooses for easy experience. 20-30 mins of this will get you to level 12 (maybe less).

  The numbers circled in the picture above for your screen should show cumlative levels 23 and 23 for your first 2 characters and 10/10 for the new assistant you just created. That means we are on the right track. If one of the numbers is slightly higher then go explore or kill a couple mongooses to even it out.
  
  You should also have 46 ap/20ap. We are not ranking any skills yet as we have not decided what we shoud rank.
  
  Now that your characters are all over level 10 you should have gotten a homestead ticket. Now is the time to create that.
  
  Refer to this guide and this page on wiki to learn all about homesteads. They are great and you should definately spend some time getting them to a nice level.
  
  That's all for day 2. You can run around exploring the towns and making friends with other new players. You might seem behind many of them becuase your not ready to run dungeons yet but if you follow this guide you will find yourself ahead of many of them within a week or 2.

  Day #3 Gets a little boring for a few days.
  
  Rebirth your characters when available.
  
  On Day 3 your first 2 characters will level to 13/13 and your other to 12/12.
  
  Your character screen should now read 37/37 and 23/23.
  
  Don't forget to work on your homesteads! There is a part time job in Dunbarten that you can start doing each game day after leveling to get seeds to plant in your homestead. These seeds also sell for really good money and can be a good place to make 100-200k a day while running through this guide. Your goal should be to have 3 level 8 homesteads within a couple weeks. This will give you lots of options that will help you later.

  Day #4 More of the same
  
  Rebirth your characters when available.
  
  On Day 4 your first 2 characters will level to 14/14 and your other to 13/13.
  
  Your character screen should now read 52/52 and 37/37.
  
  You start to become fairly efficient at doing the explore now, it still takes a while but don't give up yet!

  Day #5 More of the same
  
  Rebirth your characters when available.
  
  On Day 5 your first 2 characters will level to 15/15 and your other to 14/14.
  
  Your character screen should now read 68/68 and 52/52.

  Rebirth your characters when available.
  
  On Day 6 your first 2 characters will level to 15/15 and your other to 14/14.

  Day #7 BE CAREFUL HERE OR YOU COULD LOSE A REBIRTH
  
  Rebirth your characters when available.
  
  On Day 7 your first 2 characters will level to 13/13 and your other to 15/15.
  
  Your character screen should now read 98/98 and 84/84.
  
  DO NOT go to 99 on either of your characters. If you do tomorrows rebirth will mess everything up.

  Day #8 Choices choices
  
  Rebirth your lowest character when available.
  
  Get it to 98/98
  
  Your character screens should now all read 98/98

  Day #9
  
  Rebirth all your characters.
  
  Your character screens should now all read 99/99
  
  You can now level all 3 of your characters as much as you want since you can no longer daily rebirth and are restricted to 3 week rebirths for free or weekly rebirths with the purchase of basic/premium character cards.
  
  The good news is you probrably have 3 level 7/8 homesteads, 500-700k gold in the bank (from selling homestead seeds that you didn't need) and each character has 198 AP to spend and thats before you start leveling.

  Now you get to decide which area you would like to start with.
  
  Range/Alchemy/Magic/Melee
  
  Elves I recommend Magic or Range to start
  Giants I recommend Melee
  Humans can do any of the skills but are slightly weaker in range than elves and slightly weaker in melee than giants
  
  When you do your last rebirth pick the Destiny that you want to work with.
  
  Once you decided you need to choose a leveling skill. (whats that?) A leveling skill is a skill that can help you get to higher levels faster than if you had mixed skills or chose something else.
  
  The following are the best leveling skills for new players:

  You have enough ap to get one of these skills to rank 1. You should do so as soon as possible. Please refer to the wiki links for training requirements.

  Windmill - Thier method
  
  Firebolt - Ballooning
  
  Firebolt is my personal favorite. If you do 10 balloons a day for 6 days you will get to 25 explore and level 50 each week. At a low level thats a huge advatage. Everyone else has to grind out explore. AND you can get rares that sell for millions. most people at low levels can't make that kind of money elsewhere.

  Having at least 1 mounted pet and 1 flying pet will make your mabinogi game much more enjoyable. I recommend more since they give great storage space as well.

  Lot's of newer players ask whats a reasonable goal for thier rebirths in terms of leveling. Well that has 2 answers.
  
  Free rebirths- If you do free rebirths I beleive you should try for level 60 and explore 20 in the beginning. After several rebirths you can edge this up slowly until you can get to 70/25 efficiently.
  
  Weekly rebirths - If you do weekly rebirths you most likely are a little more dedicated to leveling. I recommend 50/20 in the beginning and eventually 70/25.

  Nexon has 2 options that can make your mabinogi life easier, at a price. The first is Premium service. This allows you to have lots of storage bags and to be able to have 2x the space in your bank tabs.

  If you do not have storage your space quickly gets taken up and you have to log onto each alt in order to see thier bank tabs. In addition to this you have no camping penalty (which can slow down leveling) and get a 10% boost in experience. The cost is 10,900 nx for 30 days. I recommend it. (Although lots of players do play free)
  
  The other option is paid rebirths.

  Paid rebirths let you gather more than 3x the amount of ap and levels that you could waiting on free rebirths. You can purchase a basic rebirth card (7900 nx)and rebirth with the same looks or if you wish to change your looks you can purchase a premium card(9900 nx).
  
  Once you decide which character you like the best and what your plans are I recommend going with the paid rebirths. That is up to you of course but if you can afford it it will make the game more enjoyable.

  its decent. however you forget that not all humans start off on Iria. some choose to spawn in Uladh at the start. also most newbies to the game wont even know the wiki exists, i doubt they would know this site exists. might be better to post a version on the official forums where most newbies would look first, or a link to one with pics (not to here though, we dont need all those idiots on the nexon forums finding us).

Hence I wrote a guide to save on hundreds of questions. If a new player reads this guide they will be well on thier way to understanding how this game works as well as have some resources most don't. I wish someone had a guide like this when I started. I also wish I got a nice 99/99 start like thet get now. Heck I was a hybrid before level 300...so stupid. But this was only meant to cover the basics.

  yes, but when you start in Uladh you get a different set of quests than you would in Iria. continent warp doesnt give you begginer quests from the area you didnt start in.

  Also, new players CANNOT, CANNOT, CANNOT, do the Beginner Quests in Rano. They aren't given a choice as to whether they want to start in Uladh or Iria anymore. They can, of course, do the Exploration Tutorial Quests from Ffion.

  I think another possible newbie money making method, particularly for melee chars who need STR, is to rank Carpentry, assuming there's a buyer. Rank F to Rank 5 is pure profit without having to buy a thing, and assuming the market holds up you'll make 500k a day minimum. Personally I recommend at least R9 Carpentry for virtually every build; the ability to make your own Fine Firewood, or even Finest Firewood, is very beneficial.

  First, homestead seeds are NEVER on sale. Just try buying them. The most valuable seeds will be based on how much exp they give.

  Strawberry seeds would only be about 1-2k each or 10-20k a stack.
  Tomato 2-3k Each.
  Eggplant 5-6k Each
  Cabbage 10k Each
  Pumpkin 20k Each
  
  Its not a huge moneymaker but if your selling them someone will buy since...you can never find them when you want them.
  
  And as I wrote in the guide you should be doing this for 3 alts a day maximizing thier stead growth. At minimum you should have 2 stacks a day to sell of seeds your not using. Mostly depends on luck. in 10 days a new player should reasonably have 500k+ in the bank doing this.
  
  Holywater is still a great way to make money for new players as well as farming.
