  I just leave it up to the Moderators, and don't bother to de-rep. X: They're just not worth my time; I hardly see any forum trolls/flamers anyways.

  As for de-rep, this would help people who troll/flame more than anyone else, seeing as they could just spam de-rep everyone for lulz.

  I would have to say I feel the exactly same way as you do in that quote.
  
  I have around 1500 posts, and only got 40-ish rep (only one green bar).
  
  ...-see some users with less than 1000 posts and yet they got 3+ green bars from rep-

  Nearly all of my rep was gained from posts i've made regarding future content, research i've compiled and questions which i've answered. If you help the community, they'll sometimes help you back.
  
  ...and I really appreciate it. The "status" of having a decent reputation means little to me. What I love about the system is that the reputation points that I award other members increases as my own reputation increases. If you write an honest guide and it shows a fair amount of work or you post in the spirit weapon database guide and follow the format, I will rep you if possible. If you present an intelligent argument which opposes my own...especially if it widens my perspective, I want to reward you.
  
  Negative reputation just brings people down. I believe that it would start a chain reaction of drama and hate.
